French automaker Citroen has revealed the eC3 which is the all-electric version of the C3 hatchback that is already on sale in India. The eC3 will be the first electric car in India from the company. Moreover, it is likely to be in the affordable electric car segment. Considering this, the Citroen eC3 would challenge the Tata Tiago .EV. While both electric hatchbacks look similar to their petrol counterparts, some distinguishing design changes have been implemented to differentiate them. Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago .EV: Exterior Design and Interior Features
The Citroen eC3 gets the same design as its conventional fuel-powered C3 model but with coloured accents, a charging port, and subtle design changes. On the other hand, the Tata Tiago EV looks quite identical to its petrol counterpart but gets blue accents with tri-arrow elements just like the Tata Tigor .EV. Besides, the hatchback gets an exclusive colour option and a different wheel design from its petrol counterpart. On the inside, the Citroen eC3 provides a revised centre console with the new drive controller replacing the manual gear lever.
Talking about the features, the Citroen offers a 26cm touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also brings forward equipment like vehicle tracking, driving behaviour analysis, auto crash notification, emergency services call, 35 smart features, a 7-year subscription, OTA software, etc. On the other hand, the Tata car provides features like connected car tech, auto headlamps, climate control, rain-sensing wipers along with multi-mode regen.
Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago .EV: Battery Pack and Electric Range
The Citroen eC3 is a fully electric hatchback, making it an eco-friendly option for customers. Powered by a 29.2 kWh battery pack, the eC3 can deliver an ARAI claimed range of 320 kms. Talking about the Tiago .EV battery, its base variant gets a 19.2 kWh battery pack (delivering a range of 250 km) while its top variant offers a 24 kWh battery pack (with a range of 315 km). When compared to the Tata Tiago .EV, eC3 has a significantly larger battery pack.
Citroen eC3 vs Tata Tiago .EV: Pricing in India
With the introduction of Citroen eC3, the company will be the first OEM in India to bring in the electric variant within six months of the ICE version launch. As revealed earlier, the company is aiming to set the price of the eC3 in check with 90 percent localisation. Its price is expected to be in the range of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas the pricing of the Tata Tiago .EV starts from Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and the top-end variant with a bigger battery pack is priced at Rs 11.7 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering the prices of both hatchbacks, the Citroen eC3 could come slightly better than the Tiago .EV as it offers a range of 315 kms with a larger battery pack.
