Toyota Kirloskar Motors has just unveiled its Innova Hycross in the country. The new MPV model has work cut out for itself with cars like the KIA Carnival and XUV700 having a growing hold in the market. The New Hycross promises to offer more space, technology, premiumness and power. But how does it stack up against the competition? To find the answer, we compare Toyota Innova Hycross to its rivals the KIA Carnival at the higher end and the Mahindra XUV700 at the budget end.
Toyota Innova Hycross VS KIA Carnival VS Mahindra XUV700: Exterior Design
The recently launched Toyota Innova Hycross and the Mahindra XUV700 feature a more SUV-ish design with muscular lines and protruding panels while the KIA Carnival gets a proper MPV design with flat panels. Up front, all three models feature large grilles, sleek LED headlamps and large bumpers. The Innova Hycross and the XUV700 both get skid plates at the front. While the Toyota gets a swept back headlamp, the XUV gets intricate C shaped LED DRLs surrounding the otherwise simple unit. While the Innova gets a large air dam at the bottom, the Mahindra makes do with a tiny one. In terms of KIA Carnival’s design, the MPV features an upright fascia with a large tiger-nose grille and a square-off look. The grille is flanked by sleek wraparound headlamps.
Talking about the dimensions, the Kia Carnival has a slightly bigger size measuring 5115 mm in length, 1985 mm in width and 1740 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3060 mm. On the other hand, Innova measures 4755 mm (length), 1850 mm (width) and 1795 mm (height) while the Mahindra XUV700 is the smallest of the lot with measurements of 4695 mm (length), 1890 mm (width), 1755 mm (height). The Innova has a wheelbase of 2850 mm and the XUV stands at the bottom of the list with a 2750 mm wheelbase which is similar to what is found on the outgoing Innova Crysta.

Toyota Innova Hycross VS KIA Carnival VS Mahindra XUV700: Interior Design and Features
In terms of interior design and features, the New Innova Hycross gets an upmarket cabin with soft touch leather all round. Kia Carnival on the other hand features a well laid-out cabin that comes with a top-notch finish and material quality.
The interior of the Carnival is finished in chestnut brown upholstery that gives the vehicle a premium appeal. Whereas the XUV700 is quite spacious and roomy while providing ease of driving, it is comfortable and has enough room for your elbows.
Moving on to the features, the Innova Hycross gets ventilated front seats, a new 10.1-inch connected car infotainment system, ottoman seats in the middle row, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, and multi-zone AC. Whereas, Kia Carnival is loaded with smart features such as three-zone climate control, auto headlamps and wiper, smartphone connectivity with Harmon Kardon music system, cruise control, front and rear parking with a rear-view camera, and more. When it comes to XUV700 features, it comes with a class. It provides ADAS, seven airbags, and dual-zone climate control. In fact, XUV700 pushes back the driver’s seat once the car is turned off so the driver can get in and out easily.
Toyota Innova Hycross VS KIA Carnival VS Mahindra XUV700: Price in India
The price of the New Toyota Innova Hycross is expected to lie between Rs 22 lakh to Rs 30 lakh while the Kia Carnival is priced between Rs 24.95 lakh to Rs 29.95 lakh based on the trim opted for. As far as, Mahindra XUV700’s price is concerned, it starts at Rs 13.45 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 24.95 lakh. Kindly note all prices mentioned here are (ex-showroom).
Toyota Innova Hycross VS KIA Carnival VS Mahindra XUV700: Engine Specifications
The Toyota Innova Hycross provides two new petrol engine options; a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 2.0-litre strong hybrid engine which can produce 171 bhp/183 bhp and 197 Nm of peak torque. Featuring a diesel fuel type in Kia Carnival, it gets a D2.2L VGT oil mill which provides a power output of 197 bhp and 440 Nm torque. Moving on to the Mahindra XUV700, it offers both petrol and diesel fuel types that provide 197/153 bhp and 380/360 Nm of peak torque respectively.
Toyota Innova Hycross VS KIA Carnival VS Mahindra XUV700: Mileage Figures
With a strong hybrid powertrain, Toyota Innova Hycross will deliver a mileage figure of 21.2 kmpl, as claimed by Toyota. On the other hand, Kia Carnival's mileage stands at 13.9 kmpl as per ARAI. Whereas the Mahindra XUV700 returns a figure in the range of 13 kmpl to 14.65 kmpl (ARAI Certified).
