In the highly action-packed segment of sub-4-meter SUVs, the Kia Sonet truly stands out as a well-rounded offering. The four-wheeler elevates the game, especially in terms of interior quality, driving dynamics, design and tech package, catering to both family car buyers and automotive enthusiasts. Here are some reasons why the Kia Cars compact SUV is such a compelling option. 2023 Kia Sonet: A Style Statement At first glance, the 2023 Kia Sonet looks quite muscular. Its upright stance, with added mass at the rear section and prominent creases all over the body, gives it a more formidable appearance. These stylish traits are further accentuated by elements like Kia’s signature nose grille with mesh-pattern detailing, brawny muscle bulge on the bonnet, projector LED headlamps with fang-shaped integrated LED DRLs, connected LED taillamps, muscular bumpers with faux skid plates, prominent body cladding and lastly, the sportier red inserts on various parts for the GT Line trim. 2023 Kia Sonet: Premium Experience The all-new Kia Sonet’s cabin is quirky yet appealing. It offers high-quality material and finishes, with elegant piano-black accents around the centre console and AC vents, elevating its premium quotient. The driving position is absurd, while the rear seats provide ample comfort for passengers with an average Indian build. Furthermore, the Sonet’s roomy, 392-litre boot is ideal for a family weekend gateway. Kia’s compact SUV also has safety covered with up to six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, vehicle stability program, ISOFIX anchors, 3-point seatbelt for all seats, seatbelt reminder for all occupants, tyre pressure monitoring system, front & rear parking sensors, traction control and rear-view camera. These features ensure peace of mind for both the driver and the passengers. 2023 Kia Sonet: Drive To Beat The new Sonet comes with three engine options - a 1.2-litre petrol (83PS/115Nm), a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (120PS/172Nm), and a 1.5-litre diesel mill (116PS/25Nm), thus catering to a broader section of the audience. Going by our hands-on experience with the Kia Sonet, we found that the highly-refined 1.2-litre petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, is ideal for relaxed day-to-day commutes, while the turbo-petrol is quick and responsive, and can be a great option for who want some added fun. The latter can be equipped with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. On the other hand, the diesel could serve as an excellent companion for those seeking a torquier engine that performs flawlessly for both daily runs and long journeys, all without compromising fuel efficiency. More interestingly, the oil burner also gets the option of a proper automatic transmission (torque converter) in addition to the clutchless manual (iMT). 2023 Kia Sonet: Thrilling Driving Dynamics Thanks to the peppy engine offerings, smooth & responsive steering, stiffer rear suspensions and well-controlled body roll, the Kia Sonet offers an enjoyable driving experience. Additionally, it has three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) and three traction modes (Snow, Mud and Sand) to cater to your preferences and needs. While the former alters throttle response to suit your driving mood, the latter ensures optimum traction in various situations.
