Mercedes-Benz India launched the EQB in December 2022 at a price tag of Rs 74.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It shares the same architecture as the Mercedes GLB and retains its basic design silhouette. That said, the SUV looks different due to its reprofiled front and rear bumpers, blanked-off front grille, and a full-width LED light bar located both in the front and towards the rear. Further the headlight and taillight design have also been tweaked. Even its interior layout is quite similar to the GLA and GLB except for the golden inserts found on its turbine-like air vents. Another key highlight of the EQB is its 7-seater configuration that boosts practicality. Apart from this, Mercedes-Benz offers eye-catching 64-colour ambient lighting inside and other features such as a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25-inch displays (driver’s display and an infotainment touchscreen), a powered tailgate alongside electrically-adjustable front seats. The EQB is equipped with a powerful 66.5kWh battery pack offering a range of up to 423 kms on a single full charge. Talking about safety then the four-wheeler provides 7 airbags with ADAS features like Forward Collision Warning, Child Lock, High-beam Assist, Anti-theft Engine immobilizer, Lane Departure, and more. Mercedes Benz GLB Along with the EQB, Mercedes-Benz also launched its 3-row GLB luxury SUV in the country at a price range of Rs 63.8 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol variant and Rs 69.8 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec diesel trim. Mercedes-Benz GLB is the latest addition to the brand's lineup of vehicles. Its robust lines and distinctive rear ensure that the SUV stands apart. On the inside, the GLB provides electrically adjustable front seats with lumbar support & memory function, wireless charging, two-zone climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, and more. Its 7 airbags ensure the safety of its occupants at all times. Using its Easy-Pack tailgate feature, one can easily load and unload the boot conveniently at the click of a button. Overall, the GLB offers decent driving dynamics, a good practicality package, and loads of features which make this car worth buying. Mercedes AMG E53 Cabriolet 4MATIC+ Another premium and exciting vehicle from the German brand is Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet 4Matic+. Its striking charisma drew everyone closer. Launched in January 2023 at a price tag of Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom), this model is the fourth 53-badged product in the country after the E 53 sedan, GLE 53 coupe-SUV, and EQS 53 sedan. The AMG E53 4Matic offers the luxury of a convertible and supercar performance. The two-door convertible provides an interior which is highlighted via a black theme that offers red stitching on its upholstery. Further, carbon fibre inserts can be found on the dashboard and centre console. The availability of a dual screen of 12.3-inch (MBUX infotainment and entertainment digital setup) provides all the essential information to the driver. With the expressive AMG styling, its exterior look is a statement of sensory dynamism. Mercedes-Benz India Plans for 2023 When the AMG E53 Cabriolet was introduced, the company shared its strategy for 2023 in order to improve its sales. One of their strategies revealed by the automaker was to "think and act like a luxury brand". As said by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Santosh Iyer, there will be a total of 10 new models released this year; the majority of upcoming Mercedes car models will be in the top-spec and would fall into the EV category. Some of the most popular features offered by Mercedes-Benz include ventilated and massaging seats, large touchscreen units, 3D HUD, and adjustable suspension, 64 colour ambient lighting, Burmester surround sound system among others. Safety features on board a Mercedes Benz include standards like ABD with EBD, ESP, Traction control, numerous airbags and more. Attention assist is a feature that can remind the driver to take a break if it detects that the driver is fatigued. Adaptive headlights can adjust the light beam pattern to better illuminate the road ahead based on conditions such as rain or snow. For the safety of the people on the road, the brand has come up with the Active Bonnet feature which minimizes pedestrian injuries by lifting the rear edge of the hood when you are involved in an accident. Mercedes-Benz recently released the first teaser of its upcoming Maybach EQS 680 SUV. While the teaser does not reveal much, the exterior design is expected to be similar to the Mercedes EQS 580. It is the Maybach details that will make it different from its sibling. The new luxury electric SUV will be fully revealed next month at the Shanghai Motor Show. Here is what to expect from the upcoming Maybach EQS 680. Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680: Exterior Design and Interior Features The New Maybach EQS 680’s exterior design will have a similar cab-forward to its Mercedes EQS sibling, but will have a few key differences. The front end will feature a new chromed-out, vertically-slatted faux grille and a bumper similar to the Maybach GLS. The bonnet will also offer the Three-Pointed Star ornament in place of the badge. Towards the side, it is expected to get chrome trim around the windowline and Maybach badging on the D-pillar while the rear doors would be larger than the EQS 580. Speaking about the rear, there will be chrome surrounds around the LED tail lights and the bumper. Inside, the Maybach EQS 680’s interior will be fitted with more premium material like wood inserts on the center console & door panels, and piano black leather seats. The electric SUV will feature a triple screen setup with a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and passenger-side display. Other notable equipment would include connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front seats with massage function, a MBUX tablet for rear passengers, and a premium audio setup from Burmester. The four wheeler will provide ADAS-features like Lane Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Cross-Traffic Assist, Collision Warning, Blind Spot Assist, and more. Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680: Powertrain Details Mercedes is likely to offer the Maybach EQS 680 with the same dual-motor powertrain as the one seen on the EQS 580. The latter currently delivers a power output of 536 bhp with 858 Nm of peak torque. The German automaker could change the performance characteristics of the powertrain in the Maybach in order to compensate for the extra weight. The Maybach EQS’s dual motors will be powered by a 107.8 kWh battery pack that supports 200 kW fast charging. Expect a range of more than 550 kms on a single full charge. Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680: India Launch Date The new electric vehicle is expected to go on sale in global markets by mid-2023. Mercedes is expected to bring the upcoming SUV to India by the end of 2023 at the earliest. Like the Mercedes EQS 580 and the Maybach S-Class, EQS 680 will also be assembled in the country. Mercedes-Benz will be introducing the GT 63 S E performance in India on the 11th of April, 2023. The coupe is the first plug-in hybrid model from Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance subsidiary (AMG). We take a closer look at the upcoming performance machine. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Exterior Design and Interior Features Compared to the ‘regular’ AMG GT 63 S, the E Performance gets slightly different styling. This includes a new front bumper that is inspired by the GT coupe, new badges, new exhaust outlets, and an exclusive alloy-wheel design. The rear provides a flap on the rear bumper for a charging port. The interior of the GT 63 S E Performance stays largely similar to the ICE-powered model except for a few subtle changes. The dual 12.3-inch screens offer multiple new hybrid-specific displays that include an EV range indicator, electric motor power gauge, and real-time power consumption data. Other features like the AMG steering wheel, sports seats, and upholstery is the same as the non-hybrid GT 63 S. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Powertrain Details Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S E Performance is the most powerful production vehicle from the German automaker. The plug-in hybrid vehicle is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that delivers a maximum power output of 639 bhp with 900 Nm of peak torque. Coupled with an electric motor, the combined power output stands at 843 bhp with 1400 Nm of peak torque. Only the Limited Edition One delivers higher power figures. This allows the GT 63 S E Performance to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in a stomach churning 2.9 seconds while its top speed is restricted to 316 kmph. The 204 bhp, 500 Nm making electric motor is powered by a 400V, 6.1 kWh battery pack. Mercedes states that the battery weighs only 89 kgs and provides the hybrid sedan an electric only range of 12 kms. It also allows for one-pedal driving capability in certain driving conditions, and gets four levels of regenerative braking. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Launch Date and Rivals in India As mentioned, Mercedes-Benz will be launching the AMG GT 63 S E Performance in India on the 11th of April, 2023. While prices have not been announced, expect the vehicle to cost a bit more than the non-hybrid 63 S’ Rs 2.70 crore (ex-showroom) price tag.
