Mahindra Automotive offers a total of 10 car models, including SUVs and MPV in India. The homegrown UV maker sells 9 SUVs and 1 MPV, which also includes an all-new electric SUV and 9 ICE vehicles. The brand has multiple manufacturing facilities with the Nasik unit playing an important role in development of vehicles. Mahindra will also launch a wide range of new SUVs, electric vehicles and new generations of existing models in the coming years.
In the sub-4 meter SUV category, Mahindra is selling the XUV 3XO, XUV 300 and the Thar 3-door. The company is selling the Scorpio Classic and the all-new Scorpio N in the lifestyle SUV category. The XUV 700 is the brand's most expensive SUV in the country. Other vehicles include Bolero, Bolero Neo and the Marazzo. In the electric vehicle space, Mahindra is selling the XUV 400 EV.
Mahindra & Mahindra was founded on 2nd October 1945 by JC and KC Mahindra as a steel trading company. In 1947 Mahindra cars assembled 75 Jeeps that came from Willy Overland Export Corporation, USA as CKD units at its Mazagon, Bombay plant. After that Mahindra made an iron and steel deal with Mitsubishi as they sourced 5,000 tons of steel for building wagons. Having various JVs down the line with companies like ITCI and Peugeot, it became the largest selling tractor brand in India during 1983. Mahindra Cars got a complete makeover with a new logo and launched the Bolero SUV back in 2000. Following the launch of Bolero, the manufacturer gained enough traction in the market and launched the Scorpio SUV in 2002.
Mahindra Cars price in India starts at Rs 7.49 lakh for the most affordable entry-level SUV, the XUV 3XO. The product portfolio goes all the way to Rs 27.14 lakh for the top of the line XUV 700 SUV.
Mahindra Cars are known for their strong and performance-oriented products. The Mahindra XUV 3XO delivers the best fuel economy of 21.20 kmpl with its 1.5 litre diesel engine. Similarly, the XUV 300 delivers 20kmpl with its diesel powertrain. The brand's only electric SUV, the XUV 400 is claimed to offer an ARAI certified range of 456km on a single charge.
