Renault India has opened its largest design centre outside of France, located in Chennai, as part of the company’s ‘Renault. Rethink’ strategy. This new centre, housed within the Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre, is a key step in strengthening Renault's presence in both the Indian and global markets.
This move comes nearly two decades after Renault opened its first design studio in India in 2005, in Pune, even before setting up its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. Over the years, Renault has continued to grow and expand its footprint in India.

Renault has invested 1.5 million euros in this new facility. The Chennai design centre will play an important role in Renault’s "International Gameplan 2027," which focuses on meeting the needs of customers worldwide. Right now, the centre has 32 designers, with plans to grow the team to 40 soon.
Renault also unveiled a design concept for the upcoming third-generation Duster. The new Duster is expected to launch in India later this year, bringing fresh design and features that could make it a strong competitor in the SUV market.
The Chennai design studio will not only help design cars for the Indian market but will also support Renault’s global operations. It will work on five new models set to launch in India over the next five years. These new models will include B-plus and C-segment SUVs, which are popular in the growing SUV market in India.
Renault has already announced plans to launch five new vehicles in India in the next two years. These will include new SUVs aimed at the B-plus and C-segment categories. With the new Chennai design centre, Renault is ready to speed up its product development and bring fresh models to market quickly.
