Skoda Auto, as part of its ambitious INDIA 2.0 strategy, is preparing to refresh its C-segment SUV, the Skoda Kushaq, for the Indian market. The facelifted version of the Kushaq has been frequently spotted testing on the roads, offering a glimpse into the upcoming changes. With the test mules showing off some exciting updates, here’s everything we know so far.
The new Skoda Kushaq facelift is expected to feature a refreshed design, with changes primarily focused on the front and rear sections of the vehicle. While the side profile will remain largely unchanged, the updated version will sport a new alloy wheel design finished in Gunmetal Grey, providing a sportier appearance.
The rear of the Kushaq will also be reworked, with a new bumper design that is expected to give the SUV a more dominant, bold presence. Spy shots show the rear now featuring connected tail lights, which could either be a full LED light bar or a black plaque with the "SKODA" lettering, similar to the brand’s concept car, the Skoda Kodiaq.
At the front, we can expect a slightly redesigned front grille that may be larger in size, complemented by a new front bumper. The headlights seem to retain the same conventional design, with a housing on top and fog lights positioned below, but overall, the design will feel more refreshed and dynamic.
While the exterior gets the bulk of the updates, the interior of the Skoda Kushaq facelift is also set to receive some exciting upgrades. The facelift is expected to come with a host of new features, most notably the addition of an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite, which will bring autonomous driving features, improving safety and convenience.
In addition to ADAS, expect the Kushaq to come with a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and possibly a few more luxury-oriented features. Other tech features that are likely to be carried over include the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch virtual cockpit, and the rear AC vents. Skoda is also likely to retain the 6 airbags as standard and maintain its 5-star GNCAP crash safety rating, which has been one of the SUV's major selling points.
When it comes to performance, the Skoda Kushaq facelift will likely continue with the same engine options as the current model. This means you can expect two petrol engine options: a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 117 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, and a more powerful 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
Both engines will come with a choice of transmission options, including a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic for the 1.0L engine. The 1.5L engine will likely be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), providing smoother shifts and a more engaging driving experience.
Skoda Kushaq facelift is expected to hit showrooms around the festive season in India, making it a perfect option for buyers looking for an updated, feature-packed SUV. With the addition of new tech and a refreshed design, the Kushaq facelift is expected to continue to compete strongly in the growing compact SUV segment.
