Next-Gen Hyundai Verna is one of the biggest launches from the South Korean automaker. The car carries some significant design updates from the inside out. In addition, the All-New Verna offers ADAS functions. The company already started accepting bookings for the sedan during the month of February 2023 at a token amount of Rs 25,000. During the launch, the brand did announce that it had received more than 8000 bookings for the car. In terms of the exterior design, the New Verna is quite radical in its approach as it breaks a few norms by way of its design. Based on the Global Design identity of Sensuous Sportiness, it features an aggressive and futuristic front fascia that brings forward an LED light bar running right across the width of the vehicle. Its black chrome parametric grille provides the car with a sporty look. Moreover, its rear profile with the LED connecting bar between LED tail lamps is quite dramatic when compared to the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and the Honda City Facelift.
Besides, the Hyundai features satin chrome door handles, auto fold ORVMs, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. With the increased dimensions, the sedan now measures 4,535 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,475 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. It is said that the Next-Gen Verna is the widest sedan in this segment.
Honda Cars also recently offered new updates on its City Facelift model. From the front, the automaker has tweaked the bumpers. Even the grille now highlights a slimmer chrome bar. In addition, the design of the grille has now also been improved; it features vertical slats on lower variants and a honeycomb pattern on higher trims. Besides, the car rides on 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Although the Virtus is Slavia's sibling, both look very different from the outside. While Slavia has a compact-liking nose, Virtus gets a squared nose. In Virtus, the L-shaped LED strips smoothly merge with the grille, however, Slavia gets no cuts and creases on the bonnet.

The latest generation of Verna features a luxurious and spacious cabin with unique elements including glossy black centre fascia, premium leather upholstery, dual-tone beige & black interiors, soft touch inserts on cashpad & door trims, and ambient light linked with drive modes. One of the interesting updates on the four-wheeler is the availability of new Hinglish VR Commands such as “AC on kar do”.
If we talk about the top-end variant of the New Verna, it gets a more futuristic cabin compared to the simple-looking cabin layouts of the Virtus Topline and facelifted City ZX. While the New Verna gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument console in a single horizontal cockpit, the City highlights a conventional-looking 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The availability of ADAS tech is common in all these new sedan cars except for a few unique features. While City Facelift provides High Beam Assist as its unique feature, the Next-Gen Verna offers additional features such as Safe Exit which will alert you of incoming vehicles while opening the door.
In addition, the 2023 Verna offers ABS with EBD, ISOFIX, Impact Sensing Auto Door Unlock, Rear Defogger, Rear Parking Sensors, and more. The car also comes with up to 30 safety features including 6 airbags. Volkswagen Virtus is also dominated by 6 airbags, a rear parking camera, and Electronic Stability Control.

The 2023 Hyundai Verna is offered with two engine options; a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine (113 bhp/143.8 Nm) and a 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine (157 bhp/253 Nm). While the MPi petrol is paired to a 6-speed manual and IVT automatic gearbox, the Turbo GDi petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT automatic option.
On the other hand, the recently-launched City Facelift is offered with petrol and a hybrid powertrain option. It comes equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine (119 bhp and 145 NM) and a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle hybrid engine (121 bhp and 253 Nm). The former is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT option while the latter can be paired to an e-CVT gearbox.
In contrast, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia share similar two engine choices; 1.0-litre turbo petrol (113 bhp and 178 Nm) and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol (148 bhp and 250 Nm). The former options of both cars get a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. But the 1.5-litre engine option of Virtus offers only a 7-speed DSG while the Slavia provides a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The latest generation of Verna is priced between Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 17.37 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison to this, the City Facelift petrol is priced between Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh (ex-showroom) while the City e:HEV Facelift is being offered at Rs 18.89 lakh which can go up to Rs 20.39 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
On the other hand, the Slavia and Virtus sit in similar price brackets. While Slavia is in the range of Rs 11.29 lakh to 18.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the Virtus retails between Rs 11.32 lakh to Rs 18.42 lakh (ex-showroom).
