The most awaited Honda City Facelift has been officially launched in India at a price tag of Rs 11.87 lakh (ex-showroom). As revealed in our earlier stories, the 5th Generation City has received cosmetic changes. The facelift model highlights a new front grille, redesigned bumper, ADAS features, and a new base variant to the sedan line-up. Let’s get into more details of the 2023 Honda City Facelift including design, variants, powertrain, and colour options.
With the cosmetic update, Honda Cars India has made minor but noteworthy changes to its sedan. On the front, it highlights newly designed bumpers. For the higher variants, the 2023 City gets a honeycomb pattern while for the lower trims, Honda offers vertical slats on the grille. On the sides, there are barely any major changes. Towards the rear, the carmaker has repositioned the reflectors towards the bottom and tweaked its bumper too.
2023 Honda City Facelift is being offered in four variants; SV, V, VX, and ZX. Out of these trims, SV is the new base variant which is available with manual transmission. In addition, the company has also added a new V variant to the existing ZX variant in the City e:HEV model.
The updated City offers a plush and spacious cabin with two-tone Beige and Black interior in the petrol variant and a two-tone Ivory and Black interior in the City e:HEV. With the introduction of advanced connectivity features, the 2023 City Facelift offers Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote control operation via a smartphone app, improved infotainment system with new colour and background, a wireless charger, improved rear camera, and a lot more. Further, Honda offers ambient lighting in the front door inner handle and the front door pockets. The brightness can also be adjusted through the control switch. The Honda City e:HEV Facelift on the other hand offers the instrument panel assistant in a new Carbon Fibre pattern and Piano Black finish on all AC vents.
Apart from this, the Japanese automaker is offering ADAS functionality on its upgraded sedan including Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist features. Please note these ADAS features are being offered across all the variants of 2023 Honda City except for the base variant.
The facelifted version of Honda City is powered by petrol and strong-hybrid engine options. There is no diesel powertrain on offer. What you get here is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor, mated to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT transmission. It delivers 119 bhp of power output and 145 NM of peak torque. While the other engine is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol option with a hybrid motor producing 124 bhp alongside 253 Nm torque paired to an e-CVT gearbox.

The outgoing model was available in five colours; Radiant Red Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic. With the updated version of City, Honda has added an all-new Blue shade as well.

The manufacturer is offering 2023 Honda City Facelift in the price range of Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol variants. While for the City e:HEV Facelift model, the carmaker is offering the sedan at a starting price of Rs 18.89 lakh which goes all the way up to Rs 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end trim.
Talking about its rivals, the sedan competes against the likes of Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the upcoming Next-Gen Hyundai Verna in its category.
