Honda City 5th Generation

Honda City 5th Generation is a premium compact sedan offering that is developed specifically for developing markets like India. Based on the Honda cars Global Small Car platform, the Honda City sedan was first launched in 1998 and since then has spawned five generations and numerous facelifts. 

In its last upgrade, the car received a completely new design and also introduced the 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle petrol engine and the hybrid powertrain for the first time in India. 

Honda City 5th Generation: Exterior

Keeping in theme with the previous generations, the Honda City 5th Generation’s exterior design is sporty and elegant to the eye. The overall car’s aesthetics is inspired by the Japanese Katana blade in motion and features a sharp shoulder line along with muscular hood and bumper. 

Upfront there is the new Honda solid wing face with its thick chrome bar that connects the new LED headlamp units and sleek grille. Lower down there are the new muscular bumper with new LED fog lamp housing and a large air dam.

Other interesting elements on the outside include the new 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and the Z-shaped 3D wrap around the new LED taillamp units. Overall, the exterior look of the Honda City 2023 gives out a muscular and aerodynamic image to the sedan.

Honda City 5th Generation: Interior and Features

Interior: The new City 5th Generation’s interior features a dual tone black and beige colour theme with leather upholstery, that exudes a sense of premiumness. The City 2023 get a new dashboard design with sophisticated soft pad and gloss black wood garnish.

Features: Other new bits on the inside include an 8-inch touchscreen system, 7-inch digital TFT meter, knurled dials for automatic AC controls, home-to-car and more. Select models of the car also get 8-speaker premium sound system, walk away auto lock and sunroof.

Safety: In terms of safety the 2023 City 5th Generation gets 6-airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ABS with EBD, engine immobiliser, lane watch camera, multi-angle reverse camera, agile handling assist and more as basic equipment.

Honda City 5th Generation price in India starts from Rs 11.82 lakh and extends to Rs 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom). Models are available in 11 variants - V, VX and ZX trims with a choice of both manual and automatic transmissions.

Honda City 5th Generation: Engine and Specification

Honda City 5th Generation is powered by a choice of petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrain options. The petrol engine is the familiar 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that is known for its punch performance and high efficiency. This unit comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission option. The engine produces around 119 bhp and 145 Nm of torque.

The diesel is the 1.5-litre i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine that comes mated to only a 6-speed manual and produces around 100 bhp. The flagship model is the Honda City e:HEV which comes powered by a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine and an e-CVT gearbox. This system is rated for a power output of 109 bhp.

The new Honda City 5th Generation car measures 4,549mm in length, is 1,748mm wide and 1,489mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,600mm. The car gets a large 40-litre fuel tank and 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
