Honda is evaluating multiple global models for the Indian market including the Civic, Accord and CR-V. These models could be introduced in their hybrid forms to serve as the brand’s image building products during the current financial year. The Honda Civic sedan is currently in its 11th-generation globally and received its latest midlife update for the 2025 model year.
New Honda Civic Launch Date
The new Civic India launch is still under consideration. Even if Honda plans, the sedan is likely to arrive during FY2026-2027.
New Honda Civic Expected Price in India
If the latest-generation Civic hybrid make its way to India, it’s expected to cost between ₹30.00 Lakhs* to ₹40.00 Lakhs* (ex-showroom).
Key Features
Following Honda’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’ design philosophy, the Honda Civic features a wide honeycomb grille, slim LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, sharper bumper creases, wider air intakes and low bonnet line at the front end.
The side profile appears cleaner than its predecessor with a coupe-inspired roofline, low beltline, strong shoulder line, door-mounted ORVMs and flush-style surfacing. At the rear, the Civic sports smoked LED taillamps, an integrated lip spoiler, a wider rear stance and horizontal light signature.
The Civic offers one of the most premium interiors in its category. It has a minimalist dashboard design with soft-touch materials and hidden air vents. The sedan offers a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Google built-in, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless charging, multiple USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, ambient lighting, leather upholstery and more.
On the safety front, this Honda sedan comes equipped with the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, offering features such as adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and rear cross traffic alert.
Engine Specifications
The latest-generation Civic is globally available with multiple powertrain options including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol and strong hybrid. In the US, the sedan is offered with a 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired to a CVT gearbox, delivering power worth 158bhp. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine is good for 180bhp.
The Honda Civic hybrid version features a 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, a 181bhp electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. This setup offers a combined power of 200bhp. Transmission duties are handled by an e-CVT. It offers a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 26kmpl.
The Civic Si and Civic Type R are powered by 200bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and 330bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol engines, respectively.
Competition
The new Honda Civic hybrid will be positioned directly against the Toyota Camry and BYD Seal. It could also serve as an alternative to the entry-level luxury sedans such as Audi A4, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine.
