Honda is set to expand its product portfolio in India with the introduction of the Honda ZR-V, which will serve as a halo product for the brand. Similar to the discontinued Accord hybrid and CR-V, it will be brought to India as a fully import unit, attracting higher import duties. Based on the North American-spec HR-V SUV, the Honda ZR-V shares its hybrid powertrain with the Civic sedan.
The ZR-V is scheduled to launch in India on May 22, 2026.
As a premium CBU offering, the ZR-V is expected to command a premium price tag of around ₹40.00 Lakhs* (ex-showroom).
Visually, the Honda ZR V looks premium with a flowing silhouette and strong stance. Upfront, the SUV features an octagonal grille with multiple vertical and horizontal slats pattern, wide-set LED headlamps, chiselled bumper and functional air curtain vents. Other design highlights include pronounced wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, slim LED taillamps, and sporty rear bumper with cladding.
Inside, the SUV follows Honda’s minimal yet functional design philosophy. It features a neatly laid-out dashboard with a signature honeycomb mesh strip. Soft-touch materials, contrast stitching, well-placed controls and heated front seats enhance overall comfort and convenience.
In terms of features, the ZR-V offers a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital driver display, an 8-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, multiple USB ports, dual zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, ambient lighting, Honda Sensing Suite (ADAS), multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rear camera and more.
In Japan and other ASEAN markets, the Honda ZR-V is available with a petrol-hybrid AWD (all-wheel drive) setup. It consists of a 143PS, 2.0L, four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors, producing power worth 184PS and 315Nm of torque. The combined output stand at 184PS and 315Nm. The same setup is likely to be offered in the India-bound model.
This series-parallel hybrid system runs in three modes – EV, Hybrid and Engine. At low speeds, the petrol engine acts as a generator, while at higher speeds, it directly powers wheels. In hybrid mode, the engine generates electricity, while the motor drives the wheels. In EV mode, the vehicle runs only on battery power. It gets an eCVT gearbox.
In India, the Honda ZR-V will directly take on the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron.
