2 Strong Hybrid SUVs Coming Soon To India

Honda ZR-V Hybrid launches in July. Renault Duster Hybrid to arrive around Diwali. Two new strong hybrid SUVs are on the way.

Hybrid SUVs are becoming more popular in India, and the list of options is set to grow soon. Over the next few months, Honda and Renault will launch their first strong hybrid SUVs in the country.

The Honda ZR-V Hybrid is scheduled to arrive this month, while the Renault Duster Hybrid is expected to make its debut around the Diwali festive season.

Here's a quick look at these upcoming hybrid SUVs.

1. Honda ZR-V Hybrid

Honda will launch the ZR-V Hybrid in July 2026, and bookings are already open. The SUV will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which means it will sit at the premium end of the market. Prices are expected to be between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The ZR-V uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a dual-motor strong hybrid system. The combined output is 184bhp and 315Nm, while power is sent to the front wheels through an e-CVT automatic gearbox. Honda claims a 0-100kmph time of 8 seconds, a top speed of 172kmph, and a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.79kmpl. In India, it will compete with premium SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line and Jeep Meridian.

Renault is bringing back the Duster, and the hybrid version is expected to launch around the Diwali festive season. It is likely to be priced around Rs 1-2 lakh more than the regular petrol Duster and will take on the Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid.

The Duster Hybrid comes with a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors, and a 1.4kWh battery pack. One electric motor acts as a generator, while the other helps drive the wheels. The combined output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, making it the most powerful strong hybrid SUV in its segment, according to Renault.
