Honda’s First Made-in-India Electric SUV Coming Soon - What to Expect

Honda's first locally made electric SUV will debut in India. The new SUV is based on the 0 Alpha concept. India will be its global production hub.

Honda is getting ready to enter the electric SUV market in India with its first locally made electric SUV. The new model will make its global debut in India on December 2, 2026. It will be launched in India before reaching other markets, making the country an important part of Honda’s global EV plans. The company has also confirmed the name of the upcoming SUV as ALPHA. It is based on the 0 Alpha concept, which was first shown at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.

India to Become the Global Production Hub

The upcoming electric SUV will be made in India and exported to other markets. This will make India an important production centre for Honda’s future electric vehicles. The name ALPHA comes from the first letter of the Greek alphabet and represents a new beginning for the brand. It will also be the first Honda model in India to get the company's redesigned H logo. The brand first introduced this logo in 1963.

Testing Is Already Underway

Honda started testing the new electric SUV in India in March 2026. The company is checking how the vehicle performs on highways, city roads, rough surfaces and in different weather conditions. Honda is also testing the vehicle with different charging setups to make sure it is ready for Indian road and driving conditions.

What to Expect From the Design and Interior?

The production version is expected to take design inspiration from the 0 Alpha concept. However, some changes are likely before the SUV reaches showrooms. Recent test vehicle sightings have also given us a look inside the cabin. The prototype featured a large touchscreen infotainment system, a separate digital instrument display and a multifunction steering wheel. These details suggest that the SUV will get a modern cabin layout. However, Honda has not yet confirmed the final interior design or feature list.
