BYD electric cars price in India start at Rs 24.99 lakh for the entry-level BYD Atto 3 and extends up to Rs 54.90 lakh for the top-spec BYD Sealion 7. The Chinese electric car manufacturer sells 2 SUVs - the Atto 3 and Sealion 7, Seal sedan and the eMax 7 electric MPV.
The BYD eMax 7-seater electric MPV is available in the price bracket of Rs. 26.90 lakh to Rs 29.90 lakh, ex-showroom. On the flip side, the BYD Seal electric sedan price in India starts at Rs 41 lakh and extends up to Rs 53 lakh. The Sealion 7 is BYD’s flagship model and, it costs Rs 48.90-54.90 lakh.
BYD is currently selling two electric SUVs, including the Atto 3 and Sealion 7 in the Indian market. The Atto 3 is the brand’s entry-level SUV, and it is priced in the range of Rs 24.99 lakh to Rs 33.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This electric SUV rivals the Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e and the Tata Harrier EV.
The BYD Sealion 7 is the flagship electric SUV for the Chinese brand in India. It directly rivals the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and BMW iX1.
BYD is considering introducing multiple new electric vehicles into the country in the next couple of years. The Chinese EV manufacturer will introduce the upgraded versions of its existing line-up. Adding to it, the BYD Sealion 6 and BYD Seagull are also under consideration for India launch.
BYD Auto was established in January 2023 as a battery manufacturer. The company designed its first vehicle, the BYD F3 petrol, which entered production in 2005. The brand’s first electric vehicle, the BYD e6 was introduced in 2009.
BYD entered the Indian automotive market in 2016 as a battery and bus chassis supplier to Olectra Greenwich Ltd. The company started assembling electric passenger vehicles at its Sriperumbudur plant, Tamil Nadu in September 2022. The company’s first battery electric vehicle in India was the e6 MPV.
