BYD Atto 3

The BYD Atto 3 is the first electric SUV from the Chinese EV manufacturer in India. The EV offers a blend of sporty design, a well-equipped and comfortable interior, and a smooth driving experience. It comes with extensive driver assistance technology and BYD’s own Blade battery tech, which is both efficient and among the safest available. Its claimed range is 521 km, though it realistically delivers around 400 km in real-world conditions. While the BYD Atto 3 is more expensive than most of its rivals, it’s considered a worthy purchase.

BYD Atto 3 Price

The Atto 3 model lineup is available in three trims – Dynamic, Premium, and Superior – priced between Rs ₹24.99 Lakhs* and Rs ₹34.49 Lakhs*. The new entry-level Dynamic trim comes only with a 49.92kWh battery pack, while the Premium and Superior come with the larger 60.48kWh battery. BYD offers an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty (whichever is earlier) on the battery, an 8-year or 1.5 lakh km warranty for the motor and motor controller, and a 6-year or 1.5 lakh km warranty on the electric SUV. Additionally, there is a 3-year free 4G data subscription, six free maintenance services, and six years of roadside assistance.

The BYD Atto 3 is one of the most feature-packed electric cars in India. Inside, a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is immediately eye-catching. There is also a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster and features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, synthetic leather upholstery, multi-colored ambient lighting, powered front driver and passenger seats, powered tailgate, door-mounted circular speakers, and unique air-con vents.

Dimensions and Boot Space

The Atto 3 is a 5-seater electric SUV measuring 4,455mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,615mm in height. Its wheelbase and ground clearance are 2,720mm and 175mm, respectively. The EV provides a spacious boot space of 440 liters with the rear seats in place, which can be expanded to 1,338 liters by folding the rear seats.

How Safe is the BYD Atto 3?

The BYD Atto 3 includes seven airbags (including a center airbag for the driver), hill descent control, ABS, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and traction control. The electric SUV also includes an ADAS suite with advanced safety features such as lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear collision warning.

Battery Pack & Electric Motor

Built on BYD’s new e-Platform 3.0, the Atto 3 is equipped with the brand’s Blade battery pack. It features a front axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that generates 201bhp and 310Nm of torque. There are two battery pack options – a 49.92kWh (available only with the Dynamic variant) and a 60.48kWh (available with the Premium and Superior trims). The former delivers a claimed range of 468 km, and the latter offers 521 km on a full charge (ARAI-certified).

The battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes using an 80kW DC fast charger or in about 10 hours with a Type 2 (7kW) AC charger. BYD provides a 7kW home charger and a 3kW portable charging box. Despite its kerb weight of 1,750kg, the electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds.
