BYD Atto 2

BYD India is expected to launch the new Seal U and Atto 2 SUVs in the country before the end of this financial year. The BYD Atto 2 has been spotted testing numerous times, suggesting launch could take place before the end of this year. In the international markets, the BYD Atto 2 is available with both EV and plug-in hybrid versions. The Chinese automaker has already confirmed that it will introduce plug-in hybrid SUV in the country, and the ATTO 2 could get the same.

BYD Atto 2 Launch Date

BYD hasn’t revealed the exact launch for the SUV, but we expect the new Atto 2 could go on sale in our market by the end of this year, around October-November.

BYD Atto 2 Expected Price in India

To be positioned below the Atto 3, the upcoming BYD Atto 2 is expected to be priced around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom.

Key Features

The upcoming BYD Atto 2 looks similar to the bigger Atto 3, featuring sleek headlights connected by a gloss-black trim with a BYD badge and petal-shape on the alloys. The SUV gets black cladding on the wheel arches, connected LED tail-lights and a black bumper with silver accents.

The new Atto 2 gets a camera-based ADAS sensor on the windscreen, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and all-black upholstery for the seats. It comes with an all-black or a beige-and-black interior theme. The SUV is packed with a free-standing 12.8-inch rotable touchscreen infotainment system with integrated AC controls and an 8.8-inch digital instrument console. Key features include a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, a 6-speaker audio system, a 50W wireless phone charger, a 360-degree surround view camera, a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, and front and rear parking sensors.

Engine Specifications

The new BYD Atto 2 is expected to be offered in both electric and plug-in hybrid guises. The European-spec model comes with two battery choices - a 45.1 kWh and a 64.8 kWh - both with a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The setup offers a power and torque of up to 201hp and 310Nm, respectively. The SUV is claimed to offer a WLTP range of up to 430km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 7.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 170kmph.

The plug-in hybrid version is called the Atto 2 DM-i, comprising a 97hp 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 7.8kWh or an 18kWh battery paired with a 197hp front-mounted electric motor. The Atto 2 PHEV Has a combined power and torque output of 212hp and 300Nm, respectively. It is claimed to offer a total WLTP range of 1000km.

Competition

The BYD Atto 2 EV will rival the likes of the Tata Sierra EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq, and Maruti e Vitara. On the other hand, the PHEV version will take on the Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid, Toyota Hyryder hybrid, and the upcoming Renault Duster hybrid.
