Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV is expected to arrive in India in 2027 A new sub-4-metre SUV is planned to rival the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue Honda aims to expand its India lineup to more than 10 products by 2030
Honda Cars India is preparing to expand its lineup with new SUVs and electric vehicles over the next few years. The Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV is expected to arrive in India in 2027, while the company is also developing a new compact SUV for the domestic market.
These upcoming models are part of Honda's plan to strengthen its presence in India and expand its portfolio to more than 10 products by 2030. The company is also preparing to introduce its next-generation hybrid technology in the country.
The Honda 0 Alpha will be the company's first electric SUV for India. Based on the 0 Alpha concept, the production model is expected to launch in 2027. Honda is developing the electric SUV with India as a key market. It will be manufactured at the company's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan and exported to international markets, including Japan.
The 0 Alpha is expected to be a five-seat electric SUV. Its final specifications have not been revealed, but the model could offer a driving range of more than 500km on a full charge. Battery capacity, charging details and other technical information are yet to be confirmed.
Unlike an electric version of the Elevate, the 0 Alpha will be a dedicated electric SUV, giving Honda a new entry into India's growing EV market.

Alongside the 0 Alpha, Honda is working on a new sub-4-metre SUV for India. The upcoming model will compete with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
Honda has not disclosed the name, design or launch timeline of the new SUV. Details about its engine, transmission options and features are also under wraps.
The new model is expected to sit below the Honda Elevate in the company's lineup. Its arrival could help Honda compete in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, where several established models offer a wide range of features and powertrain options.
Honda is also preparing to introduce its next-generation hybrid technology in India. The system is expected to make its global debut in 2027 before being introduced in the Indian market.
The new technology will complement Honda's petrol-powered models and existing hybrid offerings. The company is expected to continue focusing on SUVs and sedans, with no new hatchbacks currently planned as part of its India strategy.
Honda aims to expand its Indian lineup to more than 10 products by 2030. New SUVs, electric vehicles and hybrid-powered models are expected to play a key role in this expansion.
The company may also bring selected global models to India through CBU or CKD routes. With the 0 Alpha electric SUV, a new compact SUV and next-generation hybrid technology in the pipeline, Honda is preparing a broader range of products for the Indian market.
