Honda is preparing a new sub-4-metre SUV for India It will compete with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet Launch date, engine options and pricing are yet to be confirmed
Honda Cars India is preparing to enter the competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment with a new compact SUV. The upcoming model will take on popular rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Honda plans to launch more SUVs, electric cars and hybrid models in India over the next few years. The company aims to offer more than 10 models by 2030.
Honda has confirmed plans for a new sub-4-metre SUV for the Indian market. However, the company has not revealed its name, design or launch timeline yet. The upcoming model is expected to target one of India's most popular car segments, where customers have several options across petrol, diesel and CNG powertrains. Honda's new SUV could help the brand reach a wider audience and strengthen its position in the mass-market segment. Details about its engine options, transmission choices and features are yet to be announced.

Honda already sells the Elevate in India, which competes in the compact SUV segment above the sub-4-metre category. The new SUV is expected to sit below the Elevate in the company's lineup. It could draw on Honda's existing engineering and feature technology, but the company has not confirmed whether it will share its platform or powertrain with any current model. More details about the cabin, infotainment system, safety equipment and expected features should emerge closer to its launch.
The new compact SUV is one of several products planned by Honda for India. The company is also preparing to launch the Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV, which is expected to arrive in 2027. The 0 Alpha will be manufactured at Honda's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, with the company also planning to export it to international markets, including Japan. Honda is also working on introducing its next-generation hybrid technology in India after its global debut, expected in 2027. Along with new SUVs, these models will play an important role in the company's plan to expand its Indian portfolio to more than 10 products by 2030.
Honda has not announced an official launch date or price for its upcoming compact SUV. Its positioning below the Elevate suggests that it will compete directly with models such as the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. Pricing, specifications and variant details are expected to be revealed closer to the launch. Until then, the new SUV remains an important upcoming addition to Honda's India lineup.
