Latest Update on Skoda Kylaq

5 May 2025 - Skoda has revised the prices of the Kylaq sub-4 meter SUV. Depending on the variant, some variants saw a price increase of 36,000 while few witnessed a price reduction of Rs 46,000. The Skoda Kylaq is now available at a starting price of Rs 8.25 lakh. 

30 April 2025 - Skoda has issued a recall for the Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavic sedan due to a potential safety risk. Skoda has identified a potential risk to the safety of rear passengers during the quality inspection. It is reported that in the frontal collision, parts of the rear seatbelt buckle/latch might fail or break.

28 January 2025 - Skoda has started delivering the Kylaq SUV in the country. First introduced in November 2024, the Skoda Kylaq is based on the MQB AO IN platform that also underpins the Kushaq and Slavic. It is the brand’s first sub-4 meter SUV in the country. 

2 December 2024 - Skoda has finally revealed the complete price list of the Kylaq sub-4 meter SUV. The SUV is available in seven variants and priced in the range of Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). Skoda has received over 10,000 pre-orders for the new SUV within 10 days of its launch.

First announced on November 6, 2024, the Skoda Kylaq official bookings were commenced on January 27, 2024. Interested buyers can book the new SUV online or at authorized Skoda dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. The Kylaq also mark Skoda's entry in the sub-4 meter category and is available at a starting price of Rs ₹7.55 Lakhs* (ex-showroom, India). It is available in 4 trim levels namely Classic, Signature, Signature Plus and Prestige.

Under the hood is a tried & tested 113bhp, 1.0L, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Except for the base variant, all trims are offered with automatic gearbox option. The automatic Skoda Kylaq also gets paddle shifters.

How Safe is Skoda Kylaq?

The Kylaq is built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB A0 IN platform that also underpins the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia. Both Skoda cars received 5 star safety rating in Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program), and the same is expected for the Skoda Kylaq. In fact, the Kylaq received a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) crash tests.

Kylaq Safety Features

For safety and security, the compact SUV gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), an electronic differential lock and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard. However, it lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). 

Skoda Kylaq Engine Specifications

The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a tried & tested 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Kushaq and Slavia. This TSI engine produces 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. For transmission duties, it gets six-speed manual gearbox as standard and a six-speed torque convertor automatic as an optional. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 10.5 seconds that makes the Kylaq one of the fastest in the category. 

For braking duties, the SUV gets front disc and rear drum brake. The suspension duties are taken care by an independent front and non-independent torsion beam at the rear. The braking and suspension setup are shared with the Kushaq.

Skoda Kylaq Mileage

The Skoda Kylaq is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 19.69kmpl with a manual gearbox. The mileage drops to 19.05kmpl when paired to a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. In real world, the sub-4 meter SUV should deliver a fuel efficiency of around 12-13kmpl in city and around 16-17kmpl on highways. We will update as soon as Skoda release the official mileage figures.

In terms of proportions, the new Kylaq is 3995mm in length, 1783mm in width and 1619mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2566mm. The SUV rides on 189mm ground clearance, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. 

What is the boot space in Skoda Kylaq?

The Skoda Kylaq has a luggage carrying capacity of 446-litres, which is good enough to handle your weekend bags. The SUV has 60:40 split second-row seats. The boot space can be further extended up to 1265-litres by folding the rear seats.
