Hyundai had launched the Venue sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market on May 21, 2019. The SUV was an instant hit with close to 10,000 sales per month. The Hyundai Venue compact SUV had received its first mid-life update in June 2022. This small SUV comes with eye-catchy styling and feature-loaded, premium interiors along with multiple engine options.
The Compact SUV is available with 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine option. The petrol version is offered with 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo engines. On the other hand, the Venue diesel has the tried & tested 1.5L turbo unit. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are on offer.
The new Venue is one of the most feature-loaded sub-4 meter SUVs on sale in the Indian market. It comes with LED projector headlamps with cornering lamps, LED DRLs & connecting LED tail-lamps. The SUV gets leatherette seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable seats, and adjustable headrests.
The SUV gets an 8-inch HD infotainment unit with bluelink that supports multiple regional languages. This system is compatible with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and has voice recognition feature. Other features include voice enabled smart electric sunroof, push button start/stop, powered ORVMs with welcome function, wireless phone charging and others.
In terms of proportions, the new Venue is 3,995mm in length, 1,770mm in width and 1,617mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,500mm. This sub-4 meter SUV has a ground clearance of 195mm that is more than sufficient to tackle Indian roads. The SUV offers a boot space of 350-litres, which can be further extended by folding the 60:40 split rear seats.
The new Hyundai Venue comes with a stylish exterior, featuring boxy design and high-end tech features. The front appears flat with a large parametric jewel-type grille with chrome accents, flanked by LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps and cornering halogen lamps. The dual-tone lower bumper accommodates a wider air-intake finished in black and silver-skid plate.
There is a strong beltline that runs across the width of the car and merges well with the rear-end. The strong window-line tapers into the chunky-looking C-pillars. It has slightly flared wheel arches with diamond-cut alloy wheels, chromed door handles, and the functional roof rails.
With the facelift, Hyundai has completely revised the rear profile. It comes with a smart-fin antenna, wrap-around LED tail-lights connected via LED light bar and sculpted tailgate. The Hyundai logo is placed below the light bar with MODEL lettering below it. The bumper has a similar layout as the front, featuring black finished wide bar accommodating licensing plate, and silver-skid plate.
The Venue compact SUV comes with a premium & feature-loaded cabin. It features a dual-tone black and beige interior scheme with clean surfaces on the dashboard. It comes with a free-standing 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and built-in voice navigation. There are silver treatments around the AC vents, interior door handles and on the steering wheel.
It features leatherette seats, electrically adjustable driver's seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever. The small SUV gets ambient lighting, adjustable headrests, 2-step rear reclining seat and 60:40 split rear seat. The infotainment unit supports Home to car (H2C) with Alexa, and Over-the-Air update. The SUV offers a decent space to accommodate 4 adults and 1 child. The rear seats can be used by 2 adults with 1 child in the centre.
As standard, the new Hyundai Venue gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill start control (HAC), rear parking sensors, central locking, 3-point seat belts for all seats and ISOFIX.
The higher-spec model also gets reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, in-built dashcam with dual camera, brake assist system, Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), automatic headlamps, headlamp escort function and rear defogger with timer.
The new Venue also comes with an advanced driver assistance system. The ADAS features include Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-Car, Pedestrian and Cycle, Lane keep assist, Lane departure warning, driver attention warning, lane following assist, high-beam assist and leading vehicle departure alert.
The compact SUV is offered in 5 trim levels - E, S, Executive, SX, and S+ - and in total of 27 variants. The Hyundai Venue is available at a starting price of Rs 848862 which goes up to Rs 1245851 for the top-end variant (ex-showroom).
The Venue is available with two petrol engines - a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo unit. The naturally-aspirated petrol engine churns out 83PS and 113.8Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
On the flip-side, the 1.0L turbo petrol engine is good for 120PS and 172Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the small SUV has a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT). The new Hyundai Venue also has a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 116PS and 250Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The new Hyundai Venue 1.2L petrol engine is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 20.36kmpl. The turbo version with manual gearbox is claimed to offer a fuel economy of 18.07kmpl, while the DCT model returns 18.15kmpl. The diesel version delivers an ARAI certified fuel economy of 23.4kmpl.
The Hyundai Venue is positioned against the likes of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza and others in its category.
