Chief Design Officer Pratap Bose has been instrumental in shaping the design philosophy of the five-seater SUV resembling the brand’s upcoming ‘BE’ range.  Safety is also a priority on this one as it gets the Level 2 ADAS suite, another segment first feature. Three MX variants of the XUV 3XO are priced from ₹7.49 lakh to ₹11.39 lakh, while the AX line ranges between ₹10.69 lakh and ₹15.49 lakh ex-showroom. Notably, these are introductory prices and may increase later. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara stands out as a versatile and stylish mid-size SUV, offering Indian consumers both comfort as well as performance. Its panoramic sunroof adds an airy feel to the cabin, allowing occupants to enjoy natural light during their long road trips.  There is also ambient lighting, a digital information cluster and leather seats on offer. Mileage figures of the five-seater lie in the range of 19.38 to 27.97 kmpl. Only the Alpha, Alpha+ and Zeta+ trims get a sunroof. Prices for the Nexa-only vehicle start at ₹13.15 lakh ex-showroom. Hyundai Creta As one of the leading SUVs in the Indian market, the Hyundai Creta has garnered a widespread fanbase for its aggressive styling and long list of features. The large glass roof, which is also voice-enabled, not only enhances the ambience inside the cabin but also provides passengers with a great view of the sky, making every journey memorable. Engine options for the five-seater range from naturally aspirated to turbo-diesel with multiple transmission options on offer. However, the panoramic sunroof is available only from the S(O) trim which starts at ₹14.36 lakh. MG Hector MG’s flagship Hector SUV was launched in 2019 and has been a solid driving force when it comes to sales. Its seven trim levels come with two engine options mated to either a petrol or diesel engine. The five-seater’s panoramic sunroof can be operated by its portrait-styled touchscreen infotainment system, which the brand claims is the largest in its class, providing occupants with a sense of openness and freedom within the cabin.  To note, there is a 44 mm-longer Hector Plus model which is offered in six and seven-seat configurations as well. Ex-showroom prices of MG Hector start at ₹13.99 lakh (Style) and end at ₹21.95 lakh (Blackstorm). Mahindra XUV700 Mahindra has been at the forefront of advanced cars in the Indian automotive industry and its XUV700 SUV is proof of the same. With its 2023 facelift, the 7-seater also got Level-2 ADAS. The panoramic sunroof starts to be offered with the Pure Plus S trim at ₹20.39 lakh (ex-showroom) and is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine belting out 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque under the hood. Jeep Compass The Jeep Compass features a huge dual-pane panoramic sunroof for a clear view of the sky. Because of its vast opening, the panoramic sunroof in the Compass lets a large amount of natural light into the cabin. For those offroad trails, there’s also 4x4 capability on board with the top-end Model S (O) variant. Engine options are limited to a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel that it shares with the Tata Safari and MG Harrier. While Sport and Longitude trims miss out on a panoramic sunroof, Jeep offers it with the Longitude (O) trim starting at ₹24.69 lakh for the manual and ₹26.69 lakh for the automatic, respectively. In summary, the use of panoramic sunroofs in such vehicles mirrors the changing tastes of Indian customers for luxury and comfort in cars. As vehicle makers stretch their imaginations beyond their limits, it can be expected that these sunroofs will become more popular across all ranges, thus making driving better for many Indians.
