Hyundai to launch new MPV and off-road SUV soon. Stargazer-based MPV, Boulder SUV likely for India market.
Hyundai has big plans for the Indian market. The South Korean automaker has announced that it will expand its product portfolio with 26 new models by 2030, including its entry in the MPV and off-road SUV segments.
While details of the upcoming models remain under wraps, the carmaker recently patented the Hyundai Boulder concept. It’s expected to preview the new Hyundai off-road SUV for India. Meanwhile, the upcoming Hyundai MPV could be based on the Hyundai Stargazer or Hyundai Staria both of which are currently on sale in select global markets.
The new Hyundai family mover is expected to be priced below Rs 20 lakh, challenging the Kia Carens and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Among the two global MPVs, the Hyundai Stargazer appears to be more suitable choice for the Indian market, as it was specifically designed and developed for emerging markets such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines.
Measuring 4.4 metres in length, the MPV is available in 6 and 7-seats configuration options. Under the hood, the Hyundai Stargazer features a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 115PS and 144Nm of torque. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an iVT transmission.
In terms of features, the Stargazer offers features such as ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, multiple USB ports, rear AC vents, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and tyre pressure monitoring system.
The production-ready Hyundai Boulder could be the brand’s off-road SUV for the Indian market. The concept was showcased at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, and features Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language. Visually, it appears bold and rugged. Its key design highlights include square headlamps, 37-inch off-road tyres, rood rails with a carriage, massive black cladding, extended wheel arches, Safari-like windows, sporty rear bumper and tailgate with a spare wheel.
While engine specifications are yet to be revealed, the Hyundai Boulder SUV is expected to be offered with multiple powertrain options. Interestingly, it will become Hyundai’s first SUV based on body-on-frame architecture.
