JSW Motors to launch Combat PHEV on December 4, 2026 BYD to introduce DENZA luxury EV brand in November
The Indian automotive sector is all set to witness the arrival of two major new automakers before the end of the year: JSW Motors and Denza. While JSW Motors is arriving as a standalone Indian carmaker focused on New Energy Vehicles including plug-in hybrid and EVs, Denza will enter as the luxury electric arm of BYD. The Denza will target high-end luxury MPVs and sports tourers.
Following its strategic 35% stake acquisition in JSW MG Motor India (SAIC), the JSW Group is set to introduce JSW Motors as a completely separate, standalone brand. The first model will make its official debut in the country on December 4, 2026. JSW Motors has entered the licensing agreements with Chery Automobile, and is planning to assemble and engineer vehicles at its Greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
First Product: JSW Combat (Launch December 4, 2026)]
Key Design Highlights: Boxy and Rugged Profile, high ground clearance, flat roofline with usable roof rails, and a tailgate mounted spare wheel.
Cabin & Tech: It features a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 540-degree surround-view camera, LEVEL 2 ADAS safety suite, and all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities.
Specifications: The SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine mated to two electric motors and an 18.4 kWh battery pack. The powertrain offers a combined power and torque output of 360 hp and 610 Nm, respectively, routed via a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
EV Range and Total Range: The plug-in hybrid SUV offers an all-electric range of up to 90 km (NEDC) and a combined range of around 1200km.

BYD is following the strategy of Toyota and Volkswagen, offering Lexus and Audi as their respective luxury EV arm, in the Indian market. The Chinese maker will introduce DENZA as its luxury EV arm. Supported by major dealer groups including Landmark, EVM, and KUN, Denza showrooms will operate independently from existing BYD outlets.
