JSW Motors will enter India with the Combat SUV before Diwali 2026. The company plans 15 new-energy vehicles over four years. The Combat will be based on the Chery Jetour T2.
JSW Motors is preparing for its entry into India’s passenger vehicle market, and the company is starting with an ambitious plan. Its first model is expected to arrive before Diwali 2026, followed by a total of 15 new-energy vehicles over the next four years. The first product will be the JSW Combat, a five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV based on the global Chery Jetour T2. The company is expected to introduce its new automotive brand around the festive season as it begins its journey in the Indian car market.
The Combat will be positioned as a rugged SUV with a five-seat layout and plug-in hybrid technology. It will be based on the Jetour T2, although JSW Motors is expected to make changes to suit Indian conditions. The SUV could take on models such as the Jeep Compass and Toyota Fortuner, while also competing with other electrified SUVs. Its expected price range is currently estimated at around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, although the final price will depend on the variants and specifications offered in India. Bookings are expected to begin around the launch period.

JSW Motors is not entering India with just one SUV. The Combat will be the starting point for a much larger portfolio. Over the next four years, the company plans to launch 15 new-energy vehicles across different segments. This portfolio could include fully electric vehicles, conventional hybrids, plug-in hybrids and range-extender EVs. The company has indicated that its future products could cover a broad price range, starting at around Rs 10 lakh and going beyond Rs 30 lakh. This means the Combat will be only the first step in JSW Motors’ larger India strategy.
JSW Motors plans to use global platforms and technologies to speed up its product launches. The company is working with international partners, including Chery, rather than developing every vehicle completely from scratch. The Jetour T2-based Combat is an example of this approach. JSW Motors has also been testing the Jaecoo J5 and iCaur V23 in India. These models are understood to be part of the company’s wider evaluation of global products and technologies for the Indian market. The company is aiming for a fast product rollout, with its broader plan reportedly targeting roughly one new model every three months.
The upcoming JSW vehicles will be manufactured at a new greenfield facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The plant is planned to have an initial annual capacity of around 5 lakh vehicles. JSW Motors is also targeting localisation of up to 80 percent, which should help the company increase local production as its range expands. The facility will be central to JSW Motors’ plan to introduce more models over the next four years.
