MG Gloster is the company’s flagship SUV product in the Indian market. First launched in 2020, the SUV attracted customers with its muscular design and AWD capabilities. In addition to these, the Gloster is also the only SUV in India to offer level-1 ADAS Technology.
Since launch, the Gloster has undergone minor facelifts that have introduced incremental cosmetic and feature upgrades. The latest update to the model was provided at the end of August 2022 when new connected car features were introduced on the inside.
A large SUV in all aspects, the MG Gloster’s exterior design is bold and inspired by the world around. Upfront it features a chunky octagonal chrome grille that is inspired from the oriental philosophy. The large grille is flanked by smart LED headlamps along with a muscular bonnet. Lower down we see a sharp bumper that houses the new fog lamps along with a large silver skid plate.
Moving to the side profile of MG Gloster we get to see a chrome shoulder line that is born out of the art of surfing. Except for that one can also notice large panels along with black body cladding and 19-inch British Windmill Turbine wheels on the sides of the vehicle.
Towards the rear, it provides a pair of new wrap-around tail lamps with race track pattern, large Gloster badging and dual barrel twin chrome exhaust tips.
Interior: On the inside, the new MG Gloster provides a premium cabin with design similar to most BMW models. Finished in a two-tone black and brown leather upholstery, the company has used soft touch materials on all touch surfaces of the interior.
Features: The 2023 MG Gloster’s cabin offers a 12.2-inch i-SMART touchscreen infotainment unit with 12-speaker audio system along with an 8-inch fully digital instrument cluster. In addition, the car also gets 64 colour ambient lighting, 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat with heating & massage function and an 8-way power adjustable co-passenger seat.
In addition, the vehicle is also provided with convenience features like hands free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, 3-zone AC with OM 2.5 filter, rain sensing wiper, auto-fold ORVM with memory function and more equipment.
Safety: In terms of safety, the new MG Gloster gets 30 plus standard safety features that includes basic equipment like 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and traction control. For enhanced safety, the company has also provided the four-wheeler with a 360-degree camera, driver fatigue reminder, heated ORVM and electronic parking brake with auto hold among others.
In addition to these, the car also comes equipped with 9 level-1 ADAS functions like Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring and Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control and auto emergency braking to name a few.
MG Gloster price in India starts from Rs 38.80 lakh and extends to Rs 43.16 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in a total of 5 variants. The model is available in Super, Sharp and Savvy trims in 6 or 7-seater configuration with AWD setup.
In terms of powertrain, the MG Gloster comes equipped with two diesel engine options. The first is a single turbo 2.0-litre unit that is available only on the 2WD model. This unit produces 160 bhp and 374 Nm of torque.
The other is the twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that produces up to 215 bhp of maximum power output and a peak torque of 479 Nm. This powertrain option is offered with a 4WD setup and Terrain Selection system that features Snow, Sand, Eco, Mud, Rock, Sport and Auto modes.
