MG Hector

MG Hector is the company’s debut product in the Indian market that is currently on sale in the country. Available in the international market since 2018, the model has been marketed by 4 different brands under multiple names.

Based on a monocoque chassis, the New Hector is known for offering exceptional space on the inside while maintaining a competitive price. For 2023, MG Motor India presented the facelift at the 2023 Auto Expo that introduced updated styling cues and ADAS tech on the model. 

Design Highlights

Compared to the old model, the New MG Hector’s exterior design has matured with a more SUV-like stance. Upfront, the 2023 model replaces the celestial grille with a new argyle-inspired diamond mesh grill that blends into the air dam. While the grille is all-new, the car carries forward the same LED DRLs and headlight units within a new housing. 

From the sides, Hector car maintains its overall design with the familiar kink in the window line and the 18-inch alloy wheel design. 

Towards the rear, the new SUV gets connected LED tail lamps along with new MODEL badging and bumper design. Overall, the exterior design of the new model is more mature than the outgoing car.

MG Hector Interior and Features

Interior: On the inside, the new MG Hector’s cabin exudes a sense of premiumness with its new dashboard design and use of soft touch material. The cabin is finished in a dual-tone black and beige colour scheme and features brushed aluminium finish to certain parts.

Features: The centrepiece of the new Hector’s interior is a large 14-inch i-SMART portrait touchscreen infotainment unit that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. New equipment on the inside include a digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 8-colour ambient lighting, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, wireless charger and more.

Safety: In terms of safety, the MG Hector SUV gets 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, all-4 disk brakes, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, electronic parking brake, cornering lamps and more. 

In addition to the above-mentioned features, the car also sports level-2 ADAS system with more than 11 features that include Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Auto High-Beam Control and auto emergency braking among others.

MG Hector Price and Variants

MG Hector price in India starts from Rs 1400000 and extends to Rs 2244800 (ex-showroom). It is offered in a total of 45 variants. The model is available in Style, Shine, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro variants with two engine options.

Engine and Specification

In terms of powertrain, the MG Hector comes equipped with one petrol and one diesel engine option. The former is the familiar 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit that is rated for 140 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission option. 

While the latter is the 2.0-litre unit that produces a maximum power output of 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque featuring only a 6-speed manual transmission option. 

The Hector SUV measures 4,699mm in length, is 1,835mm wide and 1,760mm tall having a wheelbase of 2,750mm. The car gets a large 60-litre fuel tank and up to 18-inch alloy wheels.

What is the Mileage of MG Hector?

The Hector returns a claimed fuel economy of up to 15 kmpl based on the variant selected. 

Colour Options

There are 6 distinct exterior colour options available on the MG Hector. They include Havana Grey, Candy White, Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, Starry Black and Dune Brown.
