The Punch EV comes loaded with several segment-leading features such as all LED lighting system and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The cabin is packed with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless connectivity, a digital instrument console, ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof, automatic AC, air purifier and others. It also gets a 360-degree surround view camera and blind spot view monitor.

Tata Punch EV Safety Features

For safety and security, the new Tata Punch.ev has 6 airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX, iTPMS (Intelligent Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) and rear parking sensors as standard.

The Smart+ variant gets prismatic IRVM and camera based reverse park assist. The Adventure variant has sequential front side indicators, front LED fog lamps with cornering functions, hill descent control, all-4 disc brakes, hill hold control and electronic parking brake with auto hold. The SUV also gets auto headlamps and rain sensing wipers. The top-spec Empowered trim gets rear wiper & auto defogger, auto dimming IRVM and automatic headlamps.

Tata Punch EV Price and Variants

The compact EV is offered in 6 variants and in total of two battery pack options. The Tata Punch EV is available at a starting price of Rs 969000, which goes up to Rs 1259000 for the top-end variant. Prices are ex-showroom, pan India.

Engine Specifications

The Tata Punch EV is available with two new battery choices - 30kWh and 40kWh - both with a single front-axle-mounted electric motor driving the front wheels. The lower-spec 30kWh version offers 87bhp and 154Nm of torque, while the 40kWh battery variants with a front electric motor produces 127bhp and 154Nm. 

The electric SUV is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in less than 9 seconds. It comes with 3 drive modes - City, Eco and Sport - along with four levels of regenerative braking. The company claims that the battery can achieve 20-80% charging status in 26 minutes using a 65kWh DC fast charger. In fact, the EV can get a range top-up of 135km in 15 minutes charging. 

Driving Range of Punch Electric

The larger 40kWh battery is claimed to offer an ARAI-rated range of 468km in a single charge; however, its C75 real-world range is around 355km. On the other hand, the 30kWh unit offers a realistic range of up to 265-270km. 

Competition Check

The Tata Punch EV is positioned between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV in the brand's EV line-up. It is directly positioned against the Citroen eC3. However, the Punch electric could impact the sales of Tata Tigor EV and the MG Windsor EV.
