MG to launch Starlight 560 by Oct-Nov 2026 Both Plug-in hybrid and EV versions will be launched To directly rival Mahindra XUV 7XO
JSW MG Motor India is set to enter the plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) segment, which currently accounts for a small fraction of the Indian market. Codenamed 520, the new MG SUV is expected to be based on the Xingguang 560 SUV, which is sold in China. Likely to be called the MG Starlight 560, the SUV will come with 7-seats configurations and measure longer than the Mahindra XUV 7XO.

MG’s first plug-in hybrid SUV is scheduled to arrive during the festive season this year, possibly by October.
Starlight 560 Expected Price in India
Prices of the Starlight 560 SUV are expected to start around Rs 18 for the base variant, and go up to Rs 30 lakh for the fully-loaded top variant.
Key Features
Leaked patented images and spy shots suggest that the MG Starling 560 will have an upright and boxy stance, complemented by an aggressive-looking front fascia. It will feature a large blacked-out grille, LED headlamps with LED DRL strips running above and under them, a sporty bumper and a pronounced skid plate. Other design highlights include side cladding, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, LED taillamps, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
Dimensionally, the China-spec model measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,810mm. This makes it nearly 50mm longer than the Mahindra XUV 7XO, along with a longer wheelbase.
Inside, the new MG plug-in hybrid SUV will have a minimalist dashboard layout with an integrated dual screen setup, consisting of a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. It comes packed with several advanced tech and features such as connected car tech, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, adjustable steering, ambient lighting, multiple USB charging ports, OTA updates, premium leatherette upholstery and more.
Engine Specifications
Globally, the Starlight 560 is offered with both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and all-electric (EV) powertrains. However, the India-bound version is expected feature a PHEV powertrain, featuring a 1.5L petrol engine, an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. The SUV offers a pure electric range of 100km and a total range of 1,100km (including the 52-litre fuel tank), as per the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). It accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 9.7 seconds, and offers a top speed of 170kmph.
Competition
In India, the new MG plug-in hybrid SUV is expected to compete with the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
