Hector Tomahawk PHEV offers a range of over 1100km XUV 7XO gets an optional AWD capabiltiies

While 10-year diesel bans continue to hamper sunb-4 metre and midsize SUV sales, larger 3-row SUVs in India still see strong demand for diesel powertrains. However, automobile manufacturers believe that hybrids are the perfect replacement for the diesels. The 3-row family SUV segment in our market is witnessing a clash between classic diesel muscle and next-gen green mobility as JSW MG has launched the Tomahawk PHEV to rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO Diesel.

While Mahindra XUV 7XO offers raw low-end torque and optional All-Wheel Drive (AWD) capabilities, the MG Hector Tomahawk is India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid to deliver zero-emission city driving and long-distance highway flexibility.

The Hector Tomahawk plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), and a 20.5 kWh battery pack. The 148 kW (198bhp) electric motor delivers strong acceleration, enabling 0 to 100 kmph in approximately 9 seconds.

The Tomahawk PHEV is built around ride comfort and low NVH levels with a multi-link rear setup, tailored strictly for paved road conditions.

Mahindra XUV 7XO Diesel: It is packed with a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that produces 182.37 bhp and up to 450 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
