Kia has officially launched the new Sorento 3-row SUV at a starting price of ₹27.99 Lakhs*, ex-showroom. It is available in both 6 and 7-seat layouts with former having captain seats in the second-row. The Kia Sorento is offered with a strong hybrid and diesel powertrains.

Safety Features of Sorento

For safety and security, the Kia Sorento gets Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Multi-Collision Braking (MCB) system, six airbags, front & rear parking sensors, and Tyre pressure monitoring system. The ADAS tech offers adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, auto high beam and others. 

Engine Options

The Kia Sorento is available with two engine options, including a 1.6L turbo petrol with a strong hybrid setup and a 2.2L diesel. In the hybrid setup, the turbo petrol engine offers 180 PS and 265 Nm of torque, and the electric motor adds 65 PS and 264 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and offers both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive setup.

The diesel version gets a 2.2L turbo unit that also powers the Carnival. This engine produces 193 PS and 442 Nm of torque, and is paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch (DCT). It is available with FWD or AWD drivetrains.

Dimensions and Boot Space

In terms of proportions, the new Sorento is 4,815mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1700mm in height. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2815mm, which is 70mm longer than the Fortuner. In the 7-seater configuration, the Kia Sorento offers a boot space of around 175-185-litres. The boot space can be extended to 616-litres by folding the third-row seats. 

Competition

In the Indian market, the Kia Sorento rivals the Jeep Meridian, Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. It also comes as a premium alternative to the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV.
