Kia Sorento bookings open at Rs 25,000 Local assembly begins at Kia's Anantapur production facility It will be first Kia in India to offer hybrid, ICE-powered AWD
The much-awaited Kia Sorento 3-row SUV will finally go on sale in the Indian market tomorrow. Official pre-bookings for the all-new Sorento are open at authorised Kia dealerships and online, and interested customers can book the SUV by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Korean automaker has confirmed that the new 3-row SUV will be offered with both hybrid and diesel powertrain options, and will also get an AWD drivetrain.
Kia Sorento Price Expectations
Kia has already started local assembly of the new Sorento at its Anantapur production facility in Andhra Pradesh today. With high level of localisation, we expect competitive pricing. The new Kia Sorento is estimated to be priced somewhere around Rs 28 lakh to Rs 36 lakh. The diesel version will be cheaper than the strong hybrid version. This will be Kia’s first hybrid as well as its first ICE-powered 7-seater SUV in India.
The new Kia Sorento will directly rival the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq. It will also challenge the higher-spec variants of the MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Engine Specifications
Hybrid Engine: it will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor, a small battery and a six-speed automatic gearbox. This engine offers a combined power and torque output of 238 PS and 380 Nm, respectively.
Diesel Engine: the oil burner will get a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Kia Carnival. This powertrain produces 202 PS and a peak torque of 441 Nm. It is expected to be offered with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Hybrid with AWD: the new Sorento will come with the all-wheel-drive or AWD setup. It will be Kia’s first ICE-powered SUV to offer an all-wheel-drive system. The global-spec model has a mechanical AWD system, and the SUV is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 9 seconds and a top-speed of 196kmph. The SUV will also offer different drive and terrain modes.
