KIA Syros EV

The Kia Syros EV is the smallest and most affordable electric offering from the South Korean automaker in the Indian market. The EV lineup is currently available in five trims: HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and X-Line, and with two battery pack options. Kia Syros EV Price

Prices of the Kia Syros EV start at ₹13.50 Lakhs* for the base variant and go up to ₹20.00 Lakhs* for the top-spec trim. The Extended Range (ER) variants are priced between Rs 17 lakh – Rs 20 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, India. The EV also available with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental scheme, with prices starting at Rs 7.99 lakh. Customers opting for the BaaS scheme will have to pay an additional Rs 3.3 per kilometre for battery usage.

Key Features of Syros EV

The Kia Syros EV looks largely similar to its ICE-powered version, featuring the same bumpers, front and rear lighting signatures, body cladding and 17-inch alloy wheels. However, it gets a front fender integrated charging port. The electric SUV is offered in nine colour options - Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Frost Blue, Pewter Olive, Ivory Silver Matte, Magma Red and Ivory Silver Gloss. The X-Line trim is exclusively available in Xclusive Matte Graphite and Aurora Black Pearl shades.

The biggest highlight of the Syros EV is its Trinity Panoramic Display, which integrates a 12.3-inch central infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 5.0-inch screen for the climate controls. The infotainment unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Other key features include an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, a dual-camera dashcam, 64-colour ambient lighting, powered and ventilated front seats, sliding, reclining and ventilated rear seats, rear sunshades and more. The Syros EV is available in three interior themes: Onyx Black/Off-White, Cloud Blue/Grey, and Onyx Black/Hunter Green.

The safety kit includes 6 airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, hill-start assist, front parking sensors, electronic parking brake and Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.

Engine Specifications

The Kia Syros EV shares its powertrain with the Carens Clavis EV and Hyundai Creta Electric. It offers two battery pack options – 42kWh and 51.4kWh – paired with 135hp/255Nm and 171hp/255Nm front-axle electric motor, respectively. The 51.4kWh version can accelerates 0 to 100kmph sprint in 8.1 seconds.

The EV supports both 7.4kW and 10.8kW AC chargers. The smaller battery takes 6 hours to charge from 10 to 100 percent by using a 7.4kW charger, while the larger battery can be juiced up in 7 hours and 15 minutes. With a 100kW DC fast charger, the 51.4kWh battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes.

Mileage

The 42kWh and 51.4kWh variants are claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 526km and 443km, respectively.

Dimensions and Boot Space

The Kia Syros EV measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, while riding on a 2,550 mm long wheelbase. The EV offers a generous boot space of 465-litre along with a small 16-litre frunk for additional storage.

Competition

In terms of positioning, the Kia Syros EV competes with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. However, it’s more expensive than both its direct rivals.
