Kia Syros EV Completely Revealed; Unofficial Bookings Open

Syros EV receives a few EV-specific changes inside and out.  It’s expected to share its powertrain with the Kia Carens Clavis EV.

Unofficial bookings for the Kia Syros EV have commenced ahead of its market launch later this month. Select Kia dealers are accepting bookings for the electric SUV at a token sum of Rs 25,000. Ahead of its official unveiling, clear images of the Syros EV have surfaced online, giving us a good look at its exterior design and interior.

Design Highlights

Kia Syros EV Fully Leaked

Save for a few EV-specific changes, the Kia Syros EV looks largely similar to its ICE counterpart. The front fascia looks slightly different with a redesigned bumper, a slimmer closed-off grille and a charging port at the left side. The vertically-positioned headlamps with integrated DRLs, thin air insert above the registration plate, body-coloured aro inserts and sporty cladding have been carried over from the ICE version.

Unlike the ICE-powered Syros, the Syros EV features newly-designed dual-tone alloy wheels and a ‘EV’ badging on the tailgate. Other design highlights include blacked-out A,C and D-pillars, wheel arches cladding, vertically placed LED taillamps with mounted L-shaped signatures, a black rear bumper with triangular elements. Dimensionally, the electric iteration is likely to remain unchanged, measuring 3,995mm in length, 1,805mm in width and up to 1,680mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,550mm.

Interior & Features

The cabin layout and feature list of the Kia Syros EV will be identical to its ICE version. The latest clear pictures confirm the presence of the same dual screen setup, a dual-tone three-spoke wheels, USB ports and an integrated dashcam. The EV could also be equipped with features such as ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, a panoramic sunroof and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

Two Battery Pack Options

According to reports, the Kia Syros EV will share its powertrain with the Carens Clavis EV, which is currently available with 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery pack. The smaller 42kWh battery pack version offers a claimed range of 420km, the latter promises 520km on a single charge. Both versions are likely to be paired with a front-mounted electric motor.

Expected Price & Rivals

Once launched, the Syros EV is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh for the base variant and nearly Rs 20 lakh for the top-end trim (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will take directly on the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO and MG Windsor.
