KIA Next Gen Sonet Price in India
Kia India is gearing up to introduce the next-generation version of its highly popular sub-4 metre SUV, the Sonet. The all-new model, currently undergoing extensive testing, is expected to come with significantly improved styling, a more premium cabin and Kia’s new K1 platform, while retaining the existing petrol and diesel engine options. Interestingly, the second-generation Kia Sonet will go hybrid at a later stage.
The next-generation Kia Sonet is expected to arrive in the second half of 2027.
Considering the significant design changes and interior upgrades, the all-new Sonet is expected to witness a minor price hike. Its base variant could be priced around ₹8.00 Lakhs*, while the top-end trim is likely to cost around ₹16.00 Lakhs* (ex-showroom). The hybrid version, which is expected to arrive in 2028 or 2029, might be priced nearly Rs 2 lakh higher than its standard counterpart.
Spy shots reveal that the 2027 Kia Sonet will feature a heavily revised front fascia. It will carry a newly-designed and smaller front grille, new split-style LED headlamps with the Sorento-inspired boomerang-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and a redesigned bumper.
The side profile will remain largely similar to the current model, expect for the newly-designed larger alloy wheels. It will continue to feature flush-style roof rails, pull-type door handles, pronounced wheel arches and disc brakes at both ends. At the back, the all-new Sonet will sport slimmer LED DRLs, a revised bumper and connected taillamps.
Dimensionally, the 2027 Kia Sonet is expected to remain unchanged. It will measure 3,995mm in length, 1,790mm in width and up to 1,642mm in height. However, the wheelbase could be slightly longer than the current model due to the new platform. This might result in more cabin space and better rear seat comfort. Similar to the current generation, the new one will continue to offer a boot space of 385-liters and a ground clearance of 205mm.
One of the biggest updates will the shift to Kia’s new K1 platform, which also underpins the Kia Syros. The new architecture is likely to improve its structural rigidity and safety. It will also allow the integration of more advanced connected car technologies, and improved OTA (Over-the-Air) updates.
Kia might also equip the 2027 Kia Sonet with a Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. Features such as ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera might also be part of the package.
The next-generation Kia Soent is expected to retain the existing 83bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel engine options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will also be carried over.
According to reports, the all-new Sonet will receive a strong hybrid powertrain sometime in 2028 or 2029.
In the sub-4 metre SUV segment, the 2027 Kia Sonet will continue to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. The upcoming subcompact SUVs from Volkswagen and Honda will also rival the new Sonet.
