New Kia B-segment Electric SUV Confirmed - e Vitara Rival

Kia to launch a new B-segment electric SUV by 2029 It will be positioned between Sonet and Creta

We informed you earlier that Kia is evaluating a new B-segment SUV for the Indian market. Now, the company has officially announced the new B-SUV along with the next-gen Sonet and Carens Clavis hybrids. The big news is that the new SUV will be a pure electric model, which will be developed and made locally. It is scheduled to be launched by 2029.

The new Kia B-segment SUV will be positioned between the Syros and Seltos, in terms of size. The new model is expected to measure around 4.2 meters in length, and will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV and others in the category. The new Kia Seltos is now close to 4.5 meters in length, creating enough gap to accommodate a new midsize SUV.

Hyundai has already confirmed the next-gen Bayon midsize SUV for the Indian market. This SUV will be launched before the end of this year, and will be positioned between the Venue and the Creta. Kia will follow the same strategy to introduce a new model between the Sonet and the new Seltos. However, it will be a pure electric model. We believe that Kia could also introduce the ICE derivative of the SUV, which will have a naturally-aspirated petrol and a factory-fitted CNG option.

Kia Hybrid Vehicles

Kia has officially announced to launch 5 new hybrid vehicles in the Indian market. This year, the company will launch the Sorento hybrid and the Carnival hybrid, both will get the 1.6L turbo petrol strong hybrid engine. Kia has also announced to launch the Seltos hybrid, Carens Clavis hybrid and the next-gen Sonet Hybrid. The new Sonet is set to be launched in 2027, and its hybrid model could arrive in 2028. On the flip side, the Seltos and Carens Clavis will get the new 1.5L strong hybrid engine, and are expected to be launched in 2028-29.
