Hyundai Motor India is looking to expand its portfolio with a multi-powertrain strategy. The company’s main focus is on strong-hybrid technology to meet CAFE 3 emission norms. The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch 3 all new hybrid SUVs, including the next-gen Creta and the Palisade.

All-New Hyundai Creta

2027 Hyundai Creta Hybrid India

The third generation Creta, codenamed SX3, will be based on Hyundai-Kia’s modern K3 architecture that also underpins the new-gen Kia Seltos. Alongside petrol and diesel engines, the new Creta will also debut a strong-hybrid variant. This hybrid powertrain will comprise a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a small battery pack and an electric motor. Scheduled to be launched in 2027, the new Creta hybrid will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyyryder and new Kia Seltos hybrid.

Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai has confirmed that its flagship full-size luxury SUV, the Palisade will be launched in the Indian market in 2028. It will directly rival the segment-leader Toyota Fortuner. It is packed with a new 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with dual electric motors. The combined power and torque output stands at 334hp and 460Nm, respectively. Hyundai is planning to localise the Palisade, which will allow the company to price it competitively. Also, it opens a new option of exporting the SUV to several right-hand-drive markets.

Hyundai Ni1i 7-seater Hybrid

Hyundai is preparing an all-new three-row SUV, codenamed Ni1i, which will be positioned above the Alcazar in the company’s India line-up. It will be manufactured at Hyundai’s Talegaon manufacturing facility. The new SUV aims directly at the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. It is expected to feature the brand’s new 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine. The company could also introduce the SUV with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine. It is expected to be launched in the Indian market by 2027-28.
