Next-gen Hyundai Creta Spied with Thinnest Camouflage Yet: Sharp Design
Next-gen Creta to launch in early 2027 To get Pleos software system for infotainment
The Hyundai Creta has been ruling the mid-size SUV segment in India for years, however, the competition is heating up fast. To stay ahead of rivals like Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra and the upcoming hybrid offerings from JSW Motors and Renault, Hyundai is preparing to launch the next-generation Creta SUV.
Recently, new spy photos from European test runs (internally codenamed SX3) surfaced online, showing the prototype covered in its thinnest camouflage layer to date. The latest test mule gives us a clear glimpse at Hyundai's radical new design direction.
Key Design Upgrades
The next-gen Hyundai Creta is wrapped in basic vinyl wrap snapped during recent high-load towing tests in Southern Europe. This reveals several crucial features:
Sharper front fascia: the new Creta design seems inspired by Hyundai's global Crater Concept. It features a parametric-inspired front grille flanked by ultra-slim LED daytime running lamps and a split headlamp setup.
Bolder road presence: the SUV appears bigger and bolder than the outgoing model, and is expected to measure close to 4.5 metres in length. The silhouette showcases sharper shoulder lines, wider wheel arches, and a sportier roofline that adds to its bolder, premium road presence.
Connected LED lighting: At the back, the SUV has a completely redesigned tailgate with full-width LED taillamps and prominent bumper.
Hybrid Powertrains
The next-gen Hyundai Creta will retain the existing engine options, including a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. It will also get a strong hybrid powertrain, which is likely to utilise a 1.5-litre NA petrol clubbed to a small battery and an electric motor. It will be a front-wheel-drive SUV, and is expected to offer a mileage of over 25kmpl.
Tech-Loaded Cabin
The spy images confirm that the next-gen Hyundai Creta will come with an all-new touchscreen infotainment unit runs on Pleos software system, which offers faster touch response, over-the-air updates, AI voice assistance, and an upgraded LEVEL-2 ADAS with enhanced camera and radar sensor coverage.
India Launch Timeline & Expected Price
The next-gen Creta is expected to make its debut in early 2027, most probably at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is likely to be launched in the first half of 2027. We expect the 2027 Hyundai Creta to cost somewhere between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 21.50 lakh, ex-showroom. It will rival the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos and Tata Sierra.
