JSW Combat SUV India Launch - Jetour T2-Based SUV Details

JSW Motors is preparing to enter India’s passenger vehicle market with its first own-brand SUV. The upcoming model is expected to be based on the Jetour T2 and is likely to be called the JSW Combat.

The Jetour T2 facelift has recently been launched in China with updates to its design, interior and powertrain options. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the Indian-spec JSW Combat will get all the updates seen on the facelifted T2.

JSW Combat Based on Jetour T2

The upcoming JSW SUV is expected to use the Jetour T2 as its base. The model has already been seen testing in India, indicating that development work for the local market is underway. The Jetour T2 facelift gets a more refined design compared to the current model. It features new circular headlights, a slimmer JETOUR badge moved to the bonnet and a full-width LED strip connecting the headlamps.

The front bumper has also been redesigned with a smoother, body-coloured finish. The side profile remains mostly unchanged, while the rear gets a new spoiler, updated bumper and smoother D-pillar trim. The SUV continues with its four-point 3D-style LED taillights and gets body-coloured elements around the rear.

Cabin Gets New Technology

The updated Jetour T2 gets a cleaner dashboard layout with vertically stacked AC vents and chrome detailing. The centre console features physical controls for the air-conditioning system and a rotary selector for the seven drive modes. It also gets an X-Mode button for the XWD all-wheel-drive system.

The SUV continues with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system now uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 chip with 24GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also gets iFlytek’s Spark generative AI voice control system.

Other features include 256-colour ambient lighting, a 23-speaker surround sound system and new 10-way electrically adjustable comfort seats with an eight-point massage function.

JSW Combat Expected With PHEV Powertrain

The India-spec JSW Combat is expected to be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Jetour T2 i-DM PHEV uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 156 PS and 220 Nm. The updated T2 PHEV now uses a single-speed hybrid unit instead of the earlier 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.

In China, the PHEV is available with 26.61kWh and 45.12kWh battery packs. The smaller battery offers up to 108km of pure electric range, while the larger battery provides up to 173km. The combined range is claimed to be up to 1,400km under the CLTC testing cycle. However, the final powertrain specifications for the India-spec Combat have not been confirmed.

JSW Combat Launch Timeline

The JSW Combat is expected to mark the beginning of JSW Motors’ independent passenger vehicle business in India, separate from JSW MG Motor India. According to a report by The Hindu BusinessLine, the launch has reportedly been moved from the earlier Diwali timeline to mid-December 2026. The company has not officially confirmed the revised launch date. The upcoming SUV is expected to be positioned in the premium SUV space, with an expected price around the Rs 30 lakh mark.

JSW Plans More New-Energy Vehicles

JSW Motors is also planning a larger portfolio of new-energy vehicles for India. The company reportedly plans to introduce 15 new-energy models over the next four years. The upcoming range is expected to include hybrid and fully electric vehicles priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50 lakh. Manufacturing will take place at JSW’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra, which is planned to be scaled up to an annual capacity of 3.5 lakh units.

JSW also aims to build around 120 dealer partners and 150 customer touchpoints by April 2027, along with experience centres and an online vehicle-buying platform. The JSW Combat will be an important first step as the company prepares to establish its own passenger vehicle brand in India.
