JSW Combat will be the company’s first India model and is expected before Diwali 2026. The five-seat SUV will use a plug-in hybrid powertrain and be based on the Jetour T2. JSW plans 15 new-energy vehicles over the next four years.
JSW Motors, the independent passenger vehicle arm of the JSW Group, is preparing to enter India’s passenger car market with an ambitious new product strategy. The company plans to launch 15 new-energy vehicles over the next four years, with its first model set to arrive ahead of Diwali 2026.
The first model will be the JSW Combat, a rugged five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV based on the global Chery Jetour T2. The company is expected to introduce its new brand around the festive season, marking its first major step into India’s passenger vehicle market.
The JSW Combat will be the company's debut model in India. It is a five-seat SUV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and will be based on the Chery Jetour T2 sold in international markets. The rugged SUV is expected to target buyers looking for a premium SUV with an electrified powertrain. It could compete with models such as the Jeep Compass and Toyota Fortuner, while also taking on other hybrid SUVs in the market. The JSW Combat is expected to be launched ahead of Diwali 2026, with bookings likely to open around the launch period.

The Combat is expected to be positioned as a premium SUV, although estimates currently place its potential price range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 50 lakh. The final pricing is likely to vary depending on the variant and powertrain configuration. JSW is expected to localise the Jetour-based SUV for the Indian market before it goes on sale. The company will use the Combat as the starting point for a much larger product portfolio, with 14 more new-energy models planned over the next four years.
JSW Motors plans to introduce 15 new-energy vehicles across different segments by the end of the four-year product programme. While electric vehicles will form a major part of the lineup, the company will also explore other electrified technologies. Its portfolio is expected to include battery-electric vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and range-extender electric vehicles. JSW has also indicated that its product range could eventually cover vehicles priced from around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh-plus, allowing it to compete across multiple segments.
JSW Motors is working with global technology partners, including Chery, to bring products to India more quickly. Instead of developing every model from the ground up, the company will use existing global platforms and powertrain technologies and adapt them for Indian conditions. The Jetour T2-based Combat is an example of this strategy. JSW has also been testing models such as the Jaecoo J5 and iCaur V23 in India. The company plans to introduce new models at a rapid pace, with its wider strategy reportedly targeting roughly one new model every three months.
The JSW Combat and future models will be produced at the company’s upcoming greenfield manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The plant is planned to have an initial annual production capacity of around 5 lakh vehicles. JSW also plans a high level of local manufacturing, with localisation expected to reach up to 80 percent. The facility will play an important role in supporting the company’s planned expansion as more models are added to the portfolio.
