New Fronx could get a series hybrid engine with over 35kmpl mileage. Grand Vitara facelift may feature an underbody CNG tank to free up boot space. Both SUVs are expected to get Level 2 ADAS and updated interiors.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to update two of its popular NEXA SUVs, the Fronx and Grand Vitara, in 2027. Both models will receive mid-life facelifts with changes to their exterior styling, interior features and safety equipment. While the upcoming Fronx facelift is expected to introduce the brand's locally developed series hybrid technology, the updated Grand Vitara could get an underbody CNG tank to improve boot space. Another major highlight will be the addition of Level 2 ADAS technology to both SUVs. Here is what to expect from the upcoming Maruti Fronx and Grand Vitara facelifts.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is expected to receive its first major facelift in early 2027. The updated crossover will come with subtle styling changes, a more feature-loaded cabin and new safety technology. Its biggest highlight will be the introduction of Maruti Suzuki's locally developed series hybrid powertrain, internally codenamed HEV.

The Fronx facelift is expected to debut a new series hybrid setup. It will use a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, a small battery pack and an electric motor. Unlike conventional parallel hybrid systems, the petrol engine in this setup will primarily work as a generator to charge the battery and supply electricity to the motor. The electric motor will drive the wheels. This new powertrain is expected to deliver an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of over 35kmpl. If introduced as expected, the Fronx could become one of the most fuel-efficient petrol-powered crossovers in its segment.
In terms of design, the 2027 Fronx facelift is likely to receive minor styling revisions. These could include an updated NEXWave grille, revised tri-LED daytime running lights, redesigned bumpers and new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The cabin could also receive a few important upgrades. These may include a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, along with leatherette upholstery and other comfort features.
Safety will be another major area of improvement. The upcoming Fronx facelift is expected to get Level 2 ADAS, bringing features such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Other safety equipment could include six airbags, a 360-degree surround-view camera and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The facelifted Fronx is expected to arrive in early 2027, with an estimated price range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will also receive a mid-life update in early 2027. The facelifted SUV is expected to feature revised exterior styling, an upgraded interior and a longer list of features. One of the most important changes could be introduced in its CNG version, addressing a key practicality concern with the current model.
The current Grand Vitara CNG loses a considerable amount of luggage space because of its CNG cylinder placement. Maruti Suzuki is expected to address this issue with an underbody-mounted CNG tank in the facelifted version. This arrangement will free up usable boot space, making the SUV more practical for families and long-distance travel. It could also make the Grand Vitara a more attractive option for buyers looking for an SUV with factory-fitted CNG technology.
The updated Grand Vitara is also expected to receive a Level 2 ADAS safety suite. The current model does not offer this advanced active safety technology. Expected features could include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Blind-Spot Monitoring. These additions will improve driver assistance and bring the SUV in line with newer rivals.
On the outside, the 2027 Grand Vitara facelift could get a redesigned front grille, revised headlamp housing and updated bumpers. New alloy wheel designs and revised tail-lamp elements are also likely. The interior could receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. A powered tailgate with a kick gesture function could also be added to the feature list. The facelifted Grand Vitara is expected to launch in early 2027, with prices likely to range between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom).
