Maruti Suzuki's YMC EV could arrive in 2027. The electric model may offer three-row seating. Battery capacity and driving range remain unconfirmed.
Maruti Suzuki is developing a new electric vehicle that could bring three-row seating to its growing EV lineup in India. Internally known as the YMC, the upcoming model is expected to arrive in 2027 and could target families looking for a spacious electric car.
Recent test vehicle images offer a closer look at its rear design, including connected tail lamps and a large tailgate. While the company has not confirmed the production model's specifications, the YMC is expected to focus on cabin space, everyday practicality and electric mobility.
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC EV could also use battery and motor technology related to the eVitara. A driving range of around 500 km is a possibility, but the battery capacity, certified range and powertrain details remain unconfirmed.
The latest images provide a clearer view of the rear section of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YMC EV. The test vehicle appears to feature connected tail lamps, a broad tailgate and a long rear overhang. Other visible details include a shark-fin antenna, a high-mounted stop lamp, a rear defogger and a rear washer and wiper. Body cladding adds a rugged appearance, although it does not confirm whether the production model will be positioned as an SUV or an MPV.
The front and side designs remain largely concealed by camouflage, while the cabin has not been revealed clearly. However, the vehicle's overall proportions suggest that passenger space and practicality could be key priorities. The final exterior design may change before the production model arrives.

Maruti Suzuki already has a strong presence in India's MPV segment with models such as the Ertiga and XL6. The YMC could bring the brand's experience in family-focused vehicles to the electric vehicle market.
If launched with three rows, the upcoming EV could appeal to larger families who want more passenger space without relying on a petrol or hybrid powertrain. The long rear section and upright tailgate could help accommodate additional passengers, although the final seating layout has not been confirmed.
It is also unclear whether Maruti Suzuki will offer the YMC exclusively as a seven-seater or introduce different seating configurations. The model's final positioning will depend on its dimensions, cabin layout and equipment. Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed whether the production vehicle will be sold through its Arena or Nexa dealership network.
Battery capacity and driving range will be among the most important factors for buyers considering the upcoming electric MPV.
The Maruti Suzuki eVitara is available with battery options of up to 61 kWh and a front-wheel-drive powertrain producing up to 172 bhp, depending on the variant. The YMC could draw on related technology, but Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed whether it will use the same battery packs or motors. A driving range of around 500 km has been discussed as a possibility for the upcoming EV. However, this should not be treated as an official figure or a confirmed real-world range.
The final driving range will depend on the battery capacity, vehicle weight, motor configuration and energy efficiency. A larger body and an additional row of seats could also affect power consumption. Maruti Suzuki has yet to announce the YMC's battery specifications, motor output, charging speed or certified driving range.
The upcoming electric vehicle could receive a modern cabin with features designed for family use. Potential equipment may include a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and multiple convenience features.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are another possibility, although their availability has not been confirmed. Features from Maruti Suzuki's existing models, including the eVitara, could provide an indication of the technology the company may consider for its new EV.
On the outside, the production version could feature LED lighting, alloy wheels and distinctive body styling. The final equipment list, however, remains unknown. Since the test vehicle's dashboard and seating arrangement are still concealed, details about the interior design, comfort features and infotainment system are yet to emerge.
