2027 Tata Nexon EV could get a fresh design. Battery and cabin upgrades are possible. Launch is expected in 2027.
Tata Motors is working on the next-generation Nexon, and the upcoming electric version could bring important changes in design, battery packaging and overall practicality. The new Tata Nexon EV has appeared in the latest test vehicle sightings, offering an early look at the electric SUV ahead of its expected launch in 2027.
The current Tata Nexon EV is available with two battery options and a claimed range of up to 489 km. While Tata Motors has not revealed the specifications of the next-generation model, its revised body structure could create opportunities for improvements in cabin space, efficiency and performance.
Here are the major upgrades that the 2027 Tata Nexon EV could bring.
The next-generation Tata Nexon EV is expected to receive a revised exterior design. The latest prototype suggests a flatter roofline, a more upright tailgate and a less coupe-like rear profile. These changes could give the electric SUV a different look compared with the current model. The front doors, outside mirrors and prominent wheel arches are also visible on the test vehicle, while camouflage continues to hide most of the final styling details. The prototype features conventional pull-type door handles and five-spoke wheels. However, the final design and alloy wheel options could differ when the production model arrives.

One of the most notable details is the battery enclosure visible underneath the passenger compartment. Orange high-voltage cables can also be seen near the front of the enclosure. The revised body structure could allow Tata Motors to improve the way the battery pack is accommodated within the vehicle. Better packaging could help the company balance cabin space, ground clearance and battery protection. However, Tata Motors has not confirmed whether the next-generation Nexon EV will receive a larger battery pack or a completely new battery design.
The current Tata Nexon EV is offered with 30 kWh and 45 kWh battery options. The smaller battery version has a claimed range of 325 km, while the 45 kWh version offers a claimed range of up to 489 km. For the next-generation model, Tata Motors could focus on improving energy efficiency and making better use of the available battery capacity. A longer driving range would make the electric SUV more practical for daily commutes as well as longer journeys. However, the battery options and claimed range of the 2027 Nexon EV have not been announced yet. Any range improvement will depend on the final battery specifications, vehicle weight, motor efficiency and other technical changes.
The flatter roofline and more upright rear design could help improve rear-seat headroom and luggage space in the next-generation Nexon. For families, better cabin space and easier luggage accommodation could make the electric SUV more convenient for everyday use. The final result will also depend on the floor height and battery placement. Since the electric version needs to accommodate a battery beneath the passenger compartment, Tata Motors will have to balance interior room with the requirements of the electric powertrain. The cabin design and interior dimensions of the new Nexon EV remain unconfirmed.
The current Nexon EV offers around 127 bhp with the 30 kWh battery and around 143 bhp with the 45 kWh battery. Both versions support fast charging. Tata Motors could revise the motor, battery management system or charging technology for the next-generation model. Such changes could help improve efficiency, power delivery and charging convenience. However, there is no official information about the upcoming electric SUV's motor output, charging speed or battery chemistry. These details are likely to become clearer closer to its launch.
The current Tata Nexon EV is priced between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 17.89 lakh, ex-showroom. The 30 kWh version produces around 127 bhp and has a claimed range of 325 km. The larger 45 kWh version delivers around 143 bhp and offers a claimed range of up to 489 km. Both versions support fast charging. These figures apply to the existing model. Tata Motors has not announced the specifications or pricing of the next-generation Nexon EV. Any changes to its price will depend on the final battery options, features and equipment.
The next-generation Tata Nexon EV is expected to arrive in 2027. The electric version is being developed alongside the next-generation ICE Nexon, suggesting that Tata Motors is working on both powertrain options. Before its arrival, Tata Motors is also expected to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with upcoming models, including the Safari EV and Aeris EV. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Safari EV could launch next month, while the Aeris EV could arrive in early 2027. The company has not officially confirmed these timelines.
The 2027 Tata Nexon EV could bring a redesigned exterior, revised battery packaging and improvements in cabin practicality. Better efficiency, a longer driving range and charging upgrades are also possible, although none of these technical changes has been confirmed by Tata Motors. For now, the next-generation electric SUV remains under development, with its battery enclosure and revised body proportions offering an early look at the changes being considered.
More details about its battery options, features, performance, price and launch date are expected to emerge as development progresses.
