Suzuki to launch 1.2L Series Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid Engines A new 1.5L 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo petrol engine
Japanese car manufacturer, Suzuki has revealed its next-generation powertrain roadmap. The lineup introduces multiple direct-injection turbocharged petrol engines alongside Suzuki’s series-parallel strong hybrid technology, and CNG options. Here is a quick breakdown of the power, torque, and technical specifications for the 1.2L strong hybrid, 1.2L turbo petrol, and 1.5L turbo petrol engines.

Powertrain: It utilises Suzuki’s 3-cylinder, 1.2L Z12 naturally-aspirated petrol engine clubbed with a high-efficiency electric motor and a 0.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This petrol engine produces 61 kW (82bhp), while the electric motor is rated at 65 kW (87 bhp). The usable power output stands at 87bhp.
Performance Character: the hybrid engine delivers immediate low-end torque via the electric drive. This significantly increased the fuel efficiency of the hybrid electric vehicle during stop-and-go driving.
Powertrain: it will be based on the Series-Parallel architecture, featuring a 1.2L direct-injection turbo petrol engine and a bigger battery pack. The combined power output likely at 130 kW (174 bhp). In this architecture, the engine and electric jointly drive the wheels.
Powertrain: This system features a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine and series architecture, while adding external charging and a right-sized battery. This powertrain offers a combined power output of 85 kW (114 bhp). This system features an external charging.
Powertrain: This engine is derived from the Z12E block, and uses a Variable-Geometry (VG) Turbocharger to produce up to 126 bhp of power and 230 Nm of torque while targeting over 40% thermal efficiency. The powertrain is engineered to support E100 (100% ethanol flex-fuel), CNG and CBG. This engine will target compact SUVs, hatchbacks and midsize SUVs requiring mid-range acceleration.
Powertrain: The company is preparing a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine that produces 158bhp and 280Nm of torque. This flagship 4-cylinder engine provides high power delivery for Suzuki’s midsize and large SUV offerings.
