Maruti Fronx facelift to get ADAS and rear disc brakes It will get a 1.2L 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine
We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki NEXA retail network will introduce facelifts of the Fronx crossover, Grand Vitara and Invicto MPV in the coming months. Testing of the Maruti Fronx facelift has already been commenced, and the spy shots reveal that the SUV will receive key design changes, enhanced safety features, including ADAS, and Suzuki’s new engine.
Similar to the Baleno facelift, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift is set to offer higher comfort and convenience features, safety tech and improved efficiency.
The spy images reveal significant updates in the Fronx’s safety package. The front grille of the spotted model has a dedicated housing for an ADAS radar sensor. This indicates that the Fronx facelift will receive active safety features such as Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning. The SUV will also receive front parking sensors and rear disc brakes.
The Fronx facelift will retain coupe-SUV silhouette; however, Maruti Suzuki will make several design changes. In terms of styling, the crossover will have revised front mesh pattern with central ADAS radar box, revised front and rear bumper, familiar tri-LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) with updated internal signatures, and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with rear disc setup.
The Front Facelift is expected to receive several comfort and convenience features, which we have already seen on the updated Baleno hatchback. It is expected to receive front-seat ventilation function with leatherette upholstery, and premium Clarion sound system. In terms of features, the Fronx facelift will have a flagship 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen, head-up Display (HUD), 360-degree surround view camera, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The new Fronx facelift will receive a new 1.2-litre, Z12E, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine along with the existing 1.0L 3-cylinder Boosterjet turbo petrol unit. The naturally-aspirated engine will replace the existing 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, K-Series engine. The 1.2L Z12E unit produces 83 hp and 112 Nm, and is paired to either a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. The 1.0L Boosterjet engine is good for 100hp and 148Nm, and is available with 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit.
Suzuki has confirmed that it is developing a series hybrid engine to power its mass-market vehicles. This strong hybrid engine will work as a range extender, with the petrol engine working as a generator, an electric motor delivering power to the wheels and a battery pack powering the motor. This hybrid engine comprising a 1.2L 3-cylinder NA petrol engine paired with a small battery pack and an electric motor.
With the addition of ADAS, rear disc brakes, ventilated seats, and front sensors, the Maruti Fronx facelift is likely to see a slight price increase over the current model. We expect the new SUV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 13 lakh. It will rival the likes of the Toyota Taisor, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue.
