Maruti to Launch Fronx and Grand Vitara facelifts in 2027 Maruti's dedicated 3-row electric vehicle launch expected in Q2, 2027
Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA retail network is set to introduce multiple new models, including the existing facelifts and electric vehicle in the country in 2026-27. The brand’s top-sellers in SUV category, the Fronx and the Grand Vitara will receive mid-life facelift in 2027. Moreover, the company will introduce its first dedicated three-row electric vehicle, codenamed the Maruti Suzuki YMC 7-Seat Electric MPV.

Expected Launch: Early 2027
Estimated Price Range: Rs 7 lakh - Rs 14 lakh
Key Upgrades - LEVEL 2 ADAS and in-house HEV Series Hybrid Powertrain
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx will receive a mid-life update in its facelifted avatar. It will also mark the debut of Maruti Suzuki’s locally developed series hybrid technology (Codenamed HEV System).
HEV Series Hybrid Setup: Unlike parallel hybrids where both engine and electric motor drive the wheels, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover will have a series hybrid powertrain. This system will utilise the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a small battery pack and an electric motor. In this setup, the engine will acts purely as a generator to feed the electric motor and battery pack, while electric motor drives the wheel. The strong hybrid powertrain is expected to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of over 35 kmpl.
Design and Interior Changes: It is expected to come with subtle design and interior changes. The SUV will have an updated NEXWave grille, revised tri-LED daytime running light signatures,, revised bumpers, and new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the SUV is expected to get a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leatherette seats, and others.
LEVEL 2 ADAS: MSIL has already announced that it will introduce LEVEL 2 ADAS tech in its low cost models. Similar to the Baleno facelift, the Maruti Fronx facelift will get LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Parking, Adaptive Cruise Control and others. Other safety features will include 6 airbags, 360-degree surround view camera, electronic stability control (ESC) and others.
Expected Launch: Early 2027
Estimated Price Range: Rs 11 lakh - Rs 21 lakh
Key Upgrades: Underbody CNG Tank, LEVEL-2 Active Safety and New Features
The Grand Vitara will receive a mid-life update in early 2027. It will come with significant design changes and an upgraded interior along with a longer list of features. The facelift will also address boot space limitations in its CNG variants.
Underbody CNG Tank: The CNG variant of the Grand Vitara will come with an underbody CNG tank, freeing up functional boot space for long-distance luggage.
Level-2 ADAS Suite: The current model lacks ADAS safety, but the facelifted model will get active safety features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Blind-Spot Monitoring.
Exterior & Interior Tweaks: It is expected to receive a bolder front fascia, featuring revised headlamp housing, bumper and grille. Other changes could include new alloy wheels, revised tail-lamps and powered tailgate with kick gesture. Inside the cabin, the SUV could get a larger infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and others.
Expected Debut: H1, 2027
Estimated Price: Rs 15 lakh - Rs 22 lakh
Key Details: Heartech-e Born-EV Architecture
Internally codenamed the YMC, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki MPV will mark NEXA’s entry into the three-row electric MPV segment. It will be based on the dedicated HEARTECT-e Skateboard platform, which also underpins the Grand Vitara and Toyota eBella.
Skateboard EV Architecture: the battery pack is placed beneath the floorboard, offering a flat floor, increased legroom across all three rows, and large rear doors for ingress and egress.
Design details could include an upright rear tailgate, split LED lighting system, active front air vents, an extended wheelbase and others. In terms of features, the electric MPV is expected to offer dual integrated screen panel, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents and others.
Battery & Range: it is expected to share the e Vitara’s 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery choices, offering a maximum driving range of up to 500+ km.
