Maruti Fronx Facelift Could Get ADAS, New Petrol and Hybrid Engine
Maruti Fronx facelift to get LEVEL 2 ADAS The new 1.2L Z-Series engine to replace the existing 4-cylinder K-Series engine It could receive a strong hybrid engine.
Maruti Suzuki has recently introduced the Baleno facelift and the Brezza facelift. The brand’s existing models, including Fronx, Grand Vitara and Invicto will also receive a mid-life update in the next 1 year. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is gearing up for a significant mid-cycle update. It is expected to introduce major additions under the hood alongside active safety technology.
Introduction of Level 2 ADAS
The recently launched Maruti Baleno facelift is offered with the segment-first LEVEL 2 ADAS. In line with Maruti Suzuki’s plan to democratise active safety features across its lineup, the Fronx facelift is slated to feature a LEVEL 2 ADAS suite. The SUV will offer active safety features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Adaptive Cruise Control, and Forward Collision Warning. The crossover will retain the 360-degree surround-view camera.
New Petrol Engine
The Fronx facelift is likely to get the new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z-Series petrol engine that powers the Baleno facelift, Swift and Dzire. This engine is tuned specifically to deliver stronger low-end torque for urban commuting while improving fuel efficiency. This engine is capable of producing 83hp and 112Nm of torque, and can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT unit. The crossover will also receive a factory-fitted CNG option.
Strong-Hybrid Powertrain
The most anticipated mechanical update is expected to be introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s internally developed Series-Hybrid powertrain. The hybrid powertrain will use the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z-Series petrol engine, a small battery pack and an electric motor. The petrol engine will work as a generator to charge an onboard battery pack, while an electric motor drives the wheels directly.
This hybrid engine is reportedly to be designed specifically for mass-market compact vehicles. This system aims to deliver extreme fuel economy figures exceeding 35 km/l in real-world driving conditions.
Design and Interior Upgrades
The Fronx facelift is expected to receive cosmetic design and interior changes along with new features addition. It is likely to get a redesigned front grille, updated LED daytime running lights, and new alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the crossover could get a larger infotainment display and dynamic ambient lighting along with a factory-fitted sunroof.
