Mahindra Testing 3 All New SUVs - Mini Scorpio, Thar EV and BE 07 Detailed

Mahindra Vision S based SUV debut expected in December 2026 Thar EV and BE 07 electric SUVs to arrive in 2027

Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to introduce its new breed of SUVs, offering a mix of ICE, hybrid and born-electric powertrains. Recent spy images reveal Mahindra’s plan of introducing three distinct SUVs, all undergoing rigorous testing in production-ready camouflage:

Vision (Mini Scorpio): It is a boxy, sub-4-metre compact SUV built on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ modular platform.
Thar EV (Based on Vision T): A pure-electric 5-door lifestyle SUV based on the NU_IQ architecture.
BE 07 EV: Mahindra’s fourth born-electric SUV, featuring traditional SUV styling and triple-screen dashboard.

Mahindra Vision S (Mini Scorpio)

Mahindra Vision S Compact SUV

The Mahindra Vision S concept has been spotted with production body panels and interiors. It will mark the debut of Mahindra’s new NU_IQ modular platform, which will also underpins the Vision X and Vision T based SUVs. This SUV is designed to accommodate ICE, hybrid, and pure EV powertrains.

Rumoured to be Mahindra’s smallest member of the Scorpio nameplate, the Vision S will sit under 4 meters in length and will be sold alongside the XUV 3XO. The Vision S will have an upright front end, tall bonnet, flat roofline, high ground clearance, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. It will have square-shaped LED lighting signatures, wide wheel-arch claddings, and a high ground clearance.

The SUV will have a dual 10.25-inch screen layout for infotainment and a digital instrument console, a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, panoramic sunroof, and physical buttons for climate control.  It is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. The SUV is also likely to get a strong hybrid powertrain at a later stage.

Expected Price: Rs 8 lakh - Rs 15 lakh
Expected Launch: December 2026-January 2027
Rivals: Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and upcoming Renault Bridger

Mahindra Thar EV (Vision T)

The second model based on the NU_IQ modular platform will be the production version of the Vision T, which previews the electric derivative of the Thar 4x4 lifestyle off-roader. The spy images reveal that the Thar EV will have an independent rear suspension (IRS) setup instead of the rigid rear live axle used on the ICE-powered Thar variants. The electric SUV is claimed to improve ride quality and packaging for electric drive motors.

The electric SUV will retain the 5-door silhouette with vertical-slat grille inserts, square-shaped headlight housings, flush side steps, and large 19-inch aero-styled alloy wheels. It is expected to feature a dual-motor setup delivering electronic 4x4 with terrain management modes.

Expected Price: Rs 20-25 lakh
Expected Launch - Late 2027 / Early 2028
Drivetrain: dual-motor AWD setup

Mahindra BE 07 EV

Mahindra BE 07 electric SUV

The Mahindra BE 07 will be the brand’s fourth born-electric SUV, and is designed as a spacious, tech-loaded mid-size electric SUV. It is based on the modular INGLO architecture, which also underpins the XEV 9S, BE 6 and the XEV 9e. The Mahindra BE 07 drops the coupe-like roofline seen on the BE 06 in favour of a traditional upright family SUV silhouette.

The spy images reveal that the electric SUV Coupe will have a triple-screen dashboard for infotainment, digital driver’s display and a dedicated co-occupant entertainment screen. It will come with a panoramic sunroof, advanced ADAS capabilities, frameless doors, flush-fitting door handles and dual zone climate control.

It is likely to be offered with 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. The SUV is expected to offer a realistic range of up to 500km on a single charge. Using a 175 kW DC fast charger, the 79 kWh battery pack can attain 10% to 80% top up in roughly 30 minutes.

Expected Price: Rs 20 lakh - Rs 28 lakh
Expected Launch: Early 2027
Competition - Tata Harrier EV
