Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Could Get These 5 Big Updates

Virtus facelift expected in December 2026 Could get a 10.25-inch digital cluster 1.0L automatic may get an 8-speed gearbox

Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to launch in India in December 2026. The updated sedan has been spotted testing several times, hinting at a mid-life update with changes to its design, features and transmission options. The Skoda Slavia has already received its update, and the Virtus is expected to follow with a fresh set of upgrades. While Volkswagen has not officially revealed the changes yet, here are five major updates that could arrive with the new Virtus.

1. Updated Exterior Design

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to get a revised front design. Changes could include an updated grille, a sharper bumper and a full-width LED light strip. The illuminated Volkswagen logo could also be part of the update. The side profile is likely to remain largely unchanged, although the sedan could get new alloy wheel designs and additional colour options. At the rear, revised tail lamps and minor bumper changes are expected.

2. Bigger Digital Instrument Cluster

The cabin could receive a few important technology upgrades. The current 8-inch digital instrument cluster may be replaced by a larger 10.25-inch unit, giving the dashboard a more modern look. The existing 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system is expected to continue. However, Volkswagen could introduce an updated interface with improved graphics and a smoother user experience.

3. More Features and Improved Safety

The updated Virtus could get a revised interior theme, new upholstery and additional convenience features. The current model already offers ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, ambient lighting and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 360-degree camera could be one of the key additions to the facelift. The sedan is also expected to retain safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring and rear parking sensors with a camera.

4. New Automatic Gearbox for the 1.0L Engine

One of the biggest possible changes could be to the transmission options. The current 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. With the facelift, Volkswagen could replace the existing 6-speed automatic with an 8-speed torque converter unit. This change is expected to improve the transmission offering, although the company has not confirmed it yet.

5. Same Engines With a Possible Price Hike

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. The larger 1.5-litre engine produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. It is currently available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. These options are expected to continue with the updated model. The current Virtus range starts at around Rs 10.71 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.20 lakh for the range-topping Sport variant, ex-showroom. The facelift could bring a slight price increase, depending on the updates and variant lineup.

Volkswagen Virtus Facelift: Expected Launch

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is now expected to launch in India in December 2026. The update could focus on refreshed styling, a larger digital instrument cluster, more features and a revised automatic gearbox option. However, the final specifications, variant details and prices will be confirmed closer to the official launch.
