Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Makes Up 93% of India's Electric Car Exports

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara exports cross 50,000 units. The SUV accounts for 93% of India's electric car exports. Gujarat plant reaches an annual capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki has crossed a major milestone in its electric vehicle export business. The company has exported more than 50,000 units of the e Vitara since overseas shipments began in August 2025. Between April and September 2026, the electric SUV accounted for nearly 93% of India's total electric passenger vehicle exports.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Crosses 50,000 Export Units

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that exports of the e Vitara have crossed 50,000 units. The company began shipping the electric SUV to overseas markets in August 2025, soon after production started in Gujarat. The e Vitara is currently the main model behind Maruti Suzuki's electric vehicle exports. It has also helped India become an important manufacturing base for Suzuki's global EV plans.

Europe was the first region to receive the India-made electric SUV and remains its biggest overseas market. Maruti Suzuki now exports the e Vitara to nearly 50 countries, including the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

Gujarat Plant Gets a Major Production Boost

The e Vitara is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The facility produces the electric SUV for both Indian and international markets. The plant's annual production capacity has recently increased to 10 lakh vehicles. This makes it the first Suzuki factory in the world to reach this level of production capacity at a single location.

Maruti Suzuki has invested Rs. 25,288.7 crore in the Hansalpur facility. The plant also accounted for nearly half of the company's total exports in FY2025-26, highlighting its importance to the business. The increase in production capacity could help the company meet demand from more overseas markets in the coming years.

Maruti Suzuki Leads India's Electric Vehicle Exports

Between April and September 2026, Maruti Suzuki accounted for nearly 93% of India's electric passenger vehicle exports. The company also finished FY2025-26 as the country's leading exporter of passenger electric vehicles.

These figures show how much India's EV exports currently depend on the e Vitara. The electric SUV has helped Maruti Suzuki build a strong position in international markets, even though its overseas shipments began only in August 2025.

The company also accounted for more than 50% of India's total passenger vehicle exports during the first half of FY2026-27. It has remained India's largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years.

Maruti Suzuki Exports 16 Models to Nearly 120 Countries

Maruti Suzuki's export business goes beyond electric vehicles. The company currently exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries, giving it a strong presence in international markets. The e Vitara has added a new electric option to this lineup. With more production capacity at the Hansalpur plant and exports reaching nearly 50 countries, the company is looking to strengthen India's role in its global EV business. The e Vitara's performance in overseas markets will be important for Maruti Suzuki as it expands its electric vehicle plans and works to reach more international customers.
